Maybe, I personally think the Z4 is a superbly balanced car. Here is my old Z4 3.0 at Cadwell punching well above it's weight:

My thoughts are that the introduction of an LSD to this car hasn't been done very well. I still think this car has potential, my initial thoughts are that the rear springs and ARB are a bit soft. It will be going to Donington in 6 weeks, I'll be able to take it by the scruff of it's neck and get a better feel for it then. :driving:
So, you expect to win an argument with EVIDENCE? FACTS? A REAL VIDEO? The world does not work that way anymore, sir! :D
Lovely ride you had there, and indeed, the Z4 is still a very good sports car. But my understanding is that it really cannot compete with the likes of Porsche (I know, they are the next step). When I bought my Z, I was also looking at Miatas, which are famous for their handling. The LSD issue you mention has always been talked about.
Anyway, your video shows plenty of skill from the car and driver
But I can tell in your video that pushing that car on that course was fun. We don't have anything like that here in Colombia. I get an occasional fun turn here and there. That is all. So I don't get to treat my Z as a sports car. And mine is a 2.5, too. You had a 3.0 (never sold here).

The Z4 was never meant to be a superb sports car. The balance is not there (too long a nose?) and with time, I believe, it has become over engineered. It is a great car if you are NOT a really good driver, because it drives with easy. It makes you feel good, the top comes down, it draws plenty of stares, it is fun. If you still want a really incredibly performing Bimmer, stick to the M3. Preferably one generation back (my god, those new grills... :fuelfire: )

Is the LSD issue related to the fact that its a clutch plated type diff?

What's the issue that people complain off, if I may ask?

I'm not aware of other peoples complaints, I've only just bought this car and haven't really researched it that much yet. What I've noticed so far is that it tends to squat under acceleration, nose dive under braking, understeer into a corner then when you try and balance it with throttle or steering inputs the back of the car immediately wants to break lose. Any slight undulations in the road surface during a corner also seem to unsettle the rear. It might just be me (and I do stress that I've only driven it a few times) but I've owned a lot of different sports cars and this one feels like it needs a bit of tweaking.

Get yourself to Autodromo de Tocancipá, I'm sure it does track days. A Z4 2.5 Si has enough power to have a tremendous day.

Mind you, Colombia is a big place, you might live miles away from it!

Tocancipa is just 45 Kms away, on actually a lovely drive.
They have track days but have to be via reservation, and by a group. It has been a while since you can just show up and book laps or hours.
The guy I bought my Z from was actually the Bimmers Club president here. He sold me his Z because, he would later admit, it lacked a bit of power at our altitude (Bogota is at around 2,600 Mts height, so anything aspirated will lose considerable power). He bought a 335 with the twin turbo inline 6, and 8 speed tiptronic, as a replacement. One day, as the people from the club were going for a drive, he got there first and I got their second, so our cars were parked together. Later on, a friend came on, looked at both cars, wrapped his arm around my friend's shoulders and told him "Dude. You fucked up!"
He sold the 335 and contacted me to see if I wanted to sell him my Z back. I bailed, he did not buy a new bimmer, and the club slowly dissolved. So it has been a while since I have known of the Bimmers driving at Tocancipa.
But I will look into the site, and if they are again giving access to individual cars, that's an idea. txs.
