Aye Up

Johns its all about the optional extras and condition of the car. The 3.0 is the most obvious choice as the running costs are nigh on identical to the lesser models and it is very torquey to drive. If you want to ring its neck it will go very well, also ive had a good 40mpg on a long run on the french motorways before.
A statement ive come to realise is that you never regret buying something good, if you buy that really expensive hifi or whatever you never look at it and think that wasnt a good idea. Your always happy that its the best thing you could have afforded.

Has to be a 3.0 - if only for the soundtrack

I'm in my 40's and insurance is not a problem at all (just over £300 fully comp)
As a few have mentioned too, I also get very reasonable MPG from my 3.0i se and mine is auto. It comes down a bit when you hit that Sport button - but it's no good buying a car like this then trying to drive it like a granny to save on fuel.
Enjoy it.
It really is a superb car..

Best of luck finding the car that you want

Well we have now found a couple of nice Z4s worth a punt. The only problem is that they are at dealers and they are offering next to nothing for the MX5.
"Due to the time of the year sir" "No one wants a convertable this time of the year sir" However, they forget that it is also a convertable we are trying to buy from them!.
I mean. Just how low can the value of a 56 plate 2.0s MX5 be with FSH 1 owner and get this.........5000 miles from new! (Don't ask  )
Seems like we may look privately and then sell the MX5 in the spring.
So.....If anyone is after selling for a "Realistic" price..."Due to the time of year sir" we may be interested!!!

LOL, keep at it John, don`t give up hope !

Traded my last car in for the Zed, and found a differential of 2.5k between dealers for a 5 year old Alfa GT 3.2V6 Coupe; how the hell does that work ? :?

I traded in my 56 plate 2.0 Options MX5 in September, with 11,000 miles on the clock for £8,500- I think I might have got even more, but didn't push it.
A couple of weeks later the salesman told me, that my car was sold to the trade before I had even handed it in - Barnetts, Mazda, Scotland were desperate for cars.

Try John Clark Tayside for a Z4.

Best offer we have had is £7500 for a 56 plate MX5 2.0s lowered, with all the extras and only 5200 miles from new! In red in "As new" condition. :x
