Hi All,

I have seen other posts on here about fitting one of these to a Z4 with nav, I have took the plunge and ordered one, I noticed in one of the AVINUSA photos it showed the new unit fitting better on the dash because you need to cut more away to lower it at the front. anyway i will update the post during the installation.

My current setup:
Factory high 10 speak sound system with amp
Factory sat nav with flip up screen
Factory TV hybrid unit
steering wheel controls
Factory bluetooth phone system
Aftermarket reversing camera in number plate surround
Intravee
Alpine 420 unit
Firestick running on the TV AV channel via a HDMI converter to RCA

Proposed setup:
Retain: Aftermarket reversing camera in numberplate surround, Intravee & Alpine 420 unit, I need the intravee to control the triple blink & flash to pass on my car.
Install 10.25" multimedia unit, carplay and android software to talk with ODB port. install platinumIPTV apk or mirror iphone to run TV
Add ID7 skin
Radio should still use factory head unit
steering wheel controls should still work
Factory bluetooth phone system should still work if not should work through new multimedia unit

I to have been thinking about these,
One note on the pic they have either swapped the nav head unit to one with a display or that car didn't have nav to start with

Yes, I believe you will need to obtain a standard business stereo to work with the Avin.

I have just ordered one off ebay for £45 but would prefer to see if my head unit will work as it controls the amp

Let us know how you get on

The only reason for changing the head unit is the professional (sat nav head unit) doesn't have a screen so when playing the radio you wouldn't be able to see the name of the station. My concern is will the business head unit work the amp correctly?

Makes sense

Never realised the 10 speaker system was only available as part of the Sat nav option originally.

Ordered the following items:

1.wireless bluetooth carlinkit USB dongle for apple carplay
2. second hand business stereo
3. Aux CD adapter cable 3.5mm to fit into back of headunit
4. female aux coupler / joiner.

Still debating the DVB-T2 as i am hoping to add IPTV app to head unit which can steam data off my phone.

Quick update whilst waiting for parts to all arrive,

1. Removed central air vents
2. Removed head unit
3. Removed passenger air vent
4. Removed carbon leather dash panel.
5. Removed flip up screen.

Have you tried head unit to see if works amp an nav without issue

not yet but from what i hear it will restrict some of the settings. i might try new unit with my nav head unit to see what i will be missing.

Interesting - he’s done well in his install as it’s true this kind of monitor could be quite detrimental to sight-lines over the bonnet.

Do you think you will try these mods?
