45 when I got mine 46 last tuesday would have the roof down at all times but due to rain it's not been down lately

i'm also pretty supprised about the amount of younger people, i was expecting the avarage age to be around 30.

i'm 21, drive a 3.0 54plate roadster, and yes, i live at home..... i am looking for a place though!

insurance is a bit silly to be completely honest, my stupidly modified Fiat was consideribly less to insure and was a fair bit faster than the Z4, i think it comes down to how desireable they are?

yeah, lookn at the posts there is qt a wide spread of ages/tho most of the younger owners do prob still live with there parents and drive the 2.0/lol :poke: :D
good to see a broad base of ages, enjoying their zeds(tho they need to fit non rfts and a bmw oe strutbrace asap/improves it ALOT)

lol u say that as if owning a 2.0 is BAD thing?? surely not :P :poke:

Taz,i agree/wish i couldv afforded any reasonably new z4 back in my 20s(was driving cavlr turbos,leon cupras,etc) :D
ronk,ditto/hats of to banedome at 79(hope im like him at 79) :driving:
woots, like your blue zed just fine, nothing wrong with the 2.0s,just think z4 works better with a bigger engn/ie a 6cylndr :poke: :D lol. i just thought u guys/girls in ur teens/20s would want to be driving hot hatches with better aclrtn, for the same cash as a decent(2.0) z4?? not much room in the zed for mates or the ladies
anyway,i was 33 before buying my 1st true sportscar, which the z4 is /up thr with the best, having driven evrthn from boxsters, caymans, etc to ferrari f430s/lotus'/lambo murclago lp640s,dodge vipers, etc, etc. as mentioned b4,the z4 is transformed with non rft tyres and an oem strutbrace/it then equals or betters the boxster 2.7/3.2 in every way :P
as lucy said, age is just a number these days; we all have 1 thing in common, good taste

how did you afford the insurance

It's never as bad as people expect IMO. Sure you get silly quotes (I was quoted £7k for the Bora by one firm), but I've paid:

21 - Bora VR6 2.8 4Motion - £630
23 - 04 BMW 330Ci Sport - £540
24 - 04 BMW M3 SMG - £1230
25 - 06 BMW Z4MC - £950

...and now I am 27 it's just under £800. Although not the cheapest this seemed ok to me?

Past 25 now - hrmph - so hopefully it will only get cheaper from here on out!

Dont hold your breath for cheaper insurance - Its just a carrot they dangle!

When I was 18 ( a long time ago) it was "wait 'till you're 21" Then it was 25 - then 30 - get the picture! Now I'm 62 I'm waiting for the " its gone up this year - its because you're getting old)

I suppose it's just payup and enjoy our toys eh?

I should have said, I was paying £30 a year to insure a Cooper S way back then - but is was about two weeks worth of my salary!

I can't believe I'm 47. Got the Z4 when I was 42. Got my first sports car, an MG, when I was 23, then a TVR at 28. Even then, 1991, the TVr insurance was £750+

Have I said that already? Now where did I put my...... lol

i didnt want a hot hatch its just too boy racer...plus im just stuck on bmw's...im just gonna work up the range till i get to an m6. :P
there is plentyyy of room for the ladies...just take the smaller (and slimmer) girls out! it all makes sense :D

very true,woots
luckily my fiance is a mere(slim)size 10,and loves cars/and the z4 almost as much as me :D
as for the m6/6series,u seen 1 of them with the alpina spoiler/makes the back end look alot better(not sure what the m6 has in way of that, not seen 1 up close),tho the alpina splr is the bisns :)

In my early 20's I had a whopping ( at the time) mortgage, a wife ( married at 23) and child ( at 25).Defo no room for sportscars in the family budget.I always had a motorbike though and did the biking thing until I was 45 when I got my Z (now 47).Still got a bike but spent last summer in the Z whenever the sun shone. It's going to be my daily driver early in 2010 so maybe the bike willl come out to play at weekends a bit more.An amazing spread of ages, testament to how good the car is I think.

well what about 42??

i should have had a z when i was 20 but only now i have the funds to own and maintain such a car.

ofcourse i also have a 1100cc motorbike, and a 130 hp speedboat to keep in good shape.
(both over 25 years old )
