Auto wipers on off ?

Hi.
I think i have auto wipers there is a small lense under rear view mirror.
In my handbook it says a led green light is on when auto on.
I cant see a green led .
How do i know they are on/off and if on are they on always.
In auto mode what does the up down toggle do.
Thankyou

Should look like this when auto is on

Also on our car, it defaults to off when the ignition key is taken out so you have to select auto and get the green light, each time you start the car.

To clarify a little please;
Do you have the push in button on the end with the A on it?
If not, then you don't have auto wipers it appears.
The lever set into the switch will adjust the speed of the intermittent wipe in this case.
If you do have the A button, then the set in lever adjusts the sensitivity of the auto sensing...................but then I would expect you to have the LED as well?

No led on mine .wonder if not auto.
Could that lense on windscreen be for auto lights ?

If you haven’t got the green LED you haven’t got auto wipe. Pressing the button will just give you intermittent wipe.

Nope, auto dip is contained in a separate module beneath the rear view mirror.

my first wiper stalk slip ring had auto wiper, no LED on the button
I did the CC retrofit and bought a new one with CC arm - the new ring had the LED

I think he meant auto lights as in on/off not auto dipping lights which you’re describing (auto dip)

Evening  How are you liking your Z4?

Right to clear it all up....

If you have Auto Wipers then you also have Auto Lights.
Auto Lights switch...

Normal light switch...

If you don't have one, then you don't have the other.
If the lens you mention is on the top of the mirror frame then it's for Auto Dimming interior mirror only.

The sensor for Auto Wipers/Auto Lights can be found on the windscreen...

I don't have auto-lights, but have auto-wipers
Well that's odd as they are controlled from the same unit (the sensor on the wondscreen).
Does mean that you can have auto lights for the cost of a switch and a bit of coding :D
In fact the switch may have been changed by a previous owner!!

I got the info from the official price list. There are no single options and it was standard on everything except the 23i in 2011, so I can't see any other years being different as the systems for both parts are from the same unit.

Trust all know auto off @ start is a safety feature...

If it’s minus something & your wipers are stuck to the screen, having them come on would be a PITA

I'm nor sure what's going on :D , but I really had auto-wipre before doing the CC, but no LED on the arm :o

Please don't take this comment in the wrong way, its not patronising or anything, but are you sure you are not confusing auto wipers with intermittent wipers?

Just checking, as it might explain things.
