I'm not sure whether the ramifications here in the EU will be as bad as in the US, I suspect VW 'needed' the cheat in order to meet the US regulations without the need for Adblue etc. Whereas in the EU where the limits are more than twice as high on particulates presumably any tweaks to meet limits in a truthful manner will be less severe?
