A cyclist who filmed an argument with a van driver in which he appears to have been knocked off his bike and assaulted has been urged to contact police.

More from Aunty

And I thought road rage was a thing of the past, shameful.

Have every sympathy with the Cyclist but his cycling wasn't the best IMO. Appears to undertake on a corner.

Still no excuse for Van drivers behaviour though.

The attack was out of order, but you can clearly see the cyclist undertaking on a bend.

The police/Councils really do need to address the lawlessness of cyclists on our roads though as they are just getting worse. If that van was damaged/scratched from the initial incident, I suspect the driver would have no chance of getting it repaired at the cyclist expense....

Cyclist brought that on himself IMO. Should have held back as the junction was coming up. Countless times I see cyclists trying to bomb through gaps that aren't there and suffer the consequence.

Van driver could have used his mirrors though but a case of two roadhogs :)

Tim.

the cyclist might have been doing the twatty up the inside thing and squeezing though rather than hanging behind the van (although that would put him in the blind spot) but come on he didn't deserve that. hope they find the van driver and do him one.

if its not his landscaping company they ought to distance themselves from him before social media and review sites go for them...

I Can only make out a junction in the video. Not a bend? Agree the van driver shouldn't have reacted the way he did and a cyclist should always err on the side of caution. Bit cheeky to undertake like that.

speaking from a cyclist's point of view, no way would I have put myself up the inside of that van (or any vehicle for that matter) when it's indicating left... to then accuse the van driver of using a phone and calling him a nutter - what reaction could he possibly have expected? :s

saddens me to say it but some cyclists have no self preservation instinct. That said totally OTT reaction by the driver though, you can see him purposely turn into the left

I see plenty of drivers using their phones everyday - just makes me give them an even wider berth ;)

It's difficult to fully determine the road situation, regardless of that though the cyclist didn't deserve to be treated like that.

Unfortunate for the van driver. He was clearly intending to turn left, when the prat on the bike came up the inside. So the incident was caused by the biker man, from what I could see. Total over reaction though, running him into the pavement, on purpose and then thumping him. He needed teaching a lesson, but perhaps not quite like that  .

As the van driver definitely turning left? I couldn't tell for sure. Agree with gannet though. I cycle most days and have it drummed in that I will Always come out second best so self preservation first and foremost

I'm pretty sure he has his indicator on.

The cyclist should've known better than to go up the inside of another vehicle but he didn't deserve the treatment he received. The van driver was all to quick to start throwing his weight around.

Yep, just looked again, he definitely has his indicator on, at the start of the video. A good ear bashing, was what bikeman deserved though, not a thumping.

I expected the van to turn left when I started watching. Does appear the indicator was on, but even if not bloody stupid undertaking on a junction when the van could turn left, indicating or not.

I'm a cyclist to, and it does annoy me when cyclists post up videos where they are just as much of a twat as the car drivers. :headbang:

I agree this was pretty bad from both parties.

However if you get cut up on the road, who really pulls over and drags them out of the car and attacks them?
It shouldn't be like that now days. There are idiots everywhere, deal with it without resorting to violence.

Shame on the Van Man

I see dreadful cycling in London all too often, on one occasion a cyclist came up the outside and plonked his *rse right in front of my van whilst i was waiting at the lights, when they changed he farted about in front of me and blocked my route straight over the junction. I said to him from my window 'Where are you going'? and his reply was 'F*ck off" (Don't think it was you Lynchy :P ) Lucky for him i was in restraint mode unlike the guy in the video.

I think each of their actions are dreadful, no consideration for each other, but the driver turning into the path of the cyclist is appalling and could have had a far worse outcome. They both need their heads banging together.

The Cyclist made a mistake - the van driver was a complete cnut.

and for the avoidance of doubt I haven't ridden a bike since I was at school and generally hate bike riders

Something similar happened to my sister aged 18, cyclist decided he would try and get up the side whilst she was turning left and he wanted to go straight across. Fortunately the cyclist wasn't hit and shouted a lot of abuse however then followed my sister and when she got out the car assaulted her! He then made off and nothing could be done about it. One thing I fecking hate is cyclists that think they can do what they want and of something happens it's everyone else's fault.

I would like to say it's a few that give them a bad name but it's the majority with the minority sticking to the rules.

I can imagine that people driving day in day out dealing with this will snap, still no excuse for it. But sorry road rage is alive and well and if you think it's not you live in a bubble or drive with your eyes shut. Peiple only care about them and sometimes I wonder if they even care that much!

Although I do wonder why the cyclist has put this on YouTube but not reported to the police??

There must have been something happened between them both before the video started and thats probably why the cyclist sped up the inside to shout abuse.
Bit stupid trying to go past at a junction even to prove a point and even more stupid if you cant fight.
