Are my wheels really that ugly?

I'm in the process of trying to sell my modified roadster with aftermarket breyton wheels. I bought the car with them on and personally have grown to like them. The car has been advertised for well over a month on pistonheads and more recently on here and I have yet to have anyone bite - not even the timewasters (this is both nice and somewhat worrying). I'm starting to think that the wheels could be putting off potential punters.

What do you lot think?

I could potentially change them but it would be a lot of hassle and not many other wheels other than CSLs would fit over my bbk.

Being in the market myself i have to admit they are not the nicest wheels and if there was a similarly priced car with an OEM set or a set of CSL's then i know where my money would go. It also raises the question over how the car has been looked after/driven as they do look a little boy racer and the Z4 M is an enthusiast car.

Swap them out for some OEM style and sell them separately would be my advice.

Ive seen worse on M's but i doubt they are helping your quest to sell

Generally I think the price for the car is too high if you don't mind me saying ... I sold my 1 owner M with less than half the miles and many extras and a year newer for only 1k more.

The first thing that strikes me is your mods hint towards a car that may have been tracked.
I don't know if it has, but those were my thoughts. That will put some people off.
Secondly, it is strong money. The only private sale on asking more is the 16k miles MR (with the massive service gaps timewise)
Finally, it's getting towards the end of summer now and it's persisted it down every other day for the last few weeks.
Ps I like the wheels!

If you're not getting any bites from your ads, then the problem is more likely to be the price........

I like them, but given the type of car it is, most would be after an oem example.

+1 for price being the reason IMHO - I wouldn't bother swapping the wheels back, the car has other modifications, so I am sure those people who are looking for an OE example will look elsewhere anyway.

I figured the fact that it is modified would limit my pool of potential buyers significantly.

I know some unmodified cars with similar milage going for around the same money as mine is currently up for. The mods can be taken off and sold for a profit but I'm not sure if I have the time to do this myself. Pricing stuff is always tricky and I guess I could be a little off the mark here.

I was convinced that the standard 18" 224s would not fit over the AP bbk kit - am I wrong?

Nobody wants to undervalue a car on here, we all have similar cars!
If you still have the OEM stuff, then get it swapped out, and open your market your market up, make a few extra££ and probably make a couple of people on here happy with some well-priced used parts.
Win, win, and indeed win. :D :D :D

And look at the price....... :(

And they haven't sold either....,..

Sorry, when I said going, I meant sold. This was a few months back now though.

If I still had the OEM stuff then I would probably go down that route. I bought the car in its current state minus the eibachs that I have added myself so I would have to buy all the bits myself first which would be quite a big hassle.

I reckon return it to standard and you will get fairly close to your asking price + the value of your modifications assuming everything else is in order.

When i was looking for an M i only considered standard examples i have done a few mods i.e. wheels, x-pipe and back boxes, etc but i have kept all the original bits to return it to standard when the time comes as modifications generally limit the target audience and add no value in my opinion.

I like the wheels and the mods... And certainly wouldnt let those stop me buying it (if i was in the market)

But i guess price is what it ultimately boils down to.

This could be a dangerous question to ask but how far off is my current price of 14.5?

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=69004 - is the link to the ad in case you lot haven't seen it already.

I'm assuming whoever buys it would probably want to negotiate a little so that is factored in there.

Your car is pretty similar to this one:

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=64565&start=15#p972543

That one also had wheel "issues", and went for south of 12k in the end.

I think if you sell the strutbar, brakes and exhaust seperately, you could get 2000gbp or so for that (and probably more). So with the -maybe- 12-13k it could be worth compared to the car above you get your asking price.

The car isn't overpriced, but the problem is that it's a real 'enthuisiasts' car, and they are hard to sell.
The real enthuisiasts already have a z4m, but they all want your goodies ;) (enthuisiasm only starts when they already have bought the car; it grows; the first answer in your selling topic is 'can I have your brakes')

So that is the road most modified cars end up when sold: converted back to stock with a big part out. That takes some efford (and you have to have your old parts!) but that is part of the hobby. Buying oem parts back and installing them is probably not worth wile, or the person who you sell the parts to wants to give the oem parts in return (and that costs some shipping too).
Compared to my car your car is really easy (and I mean really really really easy!) to convert back to stock.... so dont complain that it's a lot of work

The other option is never sell the car and enjoy it when you can

These I believe are for sale because they won't fit over his BBK.

I'd buy your brakes off you! :D :D

Joking apart, I do agree with others, I always put my cars back to standard, or as near as possible for selling. You not only claw more money back, but a standard example will always attract a bigger market and make it easier to sell.
