Are all zeds scraped underneath?

Hi all-still looking for a z4,the weather has slowed my search down a bit :x ,but the couple i have seen were scraped badly under the front bumper,i realise these are low cars-is it something i will have to get used to seeing?-thanx
 
No mate, they`re not, or at least mine isn`t anyway....... :thumbsup:

If you`ve only seen a couple you need to look at a few more, as you WILL come across one that has been looked after.

No. Only careless drivers park their car to close to the kerb and scratch front bumper and wheels. My E85 had scratches done by previous owner.
 
All depends on age, 1 - 2 years old then possibly no, any older then the percentages stack up.
 
6 years old and no scrapes under my front bumper. Two careful previous owners plus me, and I always reverse-park to be safe. I've scraped the underbelly on a couple of speed humps before but when I was last under the car I couldn't see any evidence of them (hope that doesn't mean I've lost some bits :lol: )
 
No bought my 04 in Jan 2008 and still no scrapes from me or the previous owner you may get some but nothing major if you drive with thought for your car.
 
I don't thihnk it's necessarily down to 'careless' owners. I think the best of us may occassionally park the front end on a kerb due to the long nose if we park in many different places. Having said that, it shouldn't really be noticable unless someone has really scraped the car. Even I've got out the car and noticed the bumper/lower spoiler hovering over a kerb a few times (and I'm anal about damaging it it) but on close inspection usually there's a gap of a few mm hence no damage, but easily done if higher kerbs I suppose.

Oh, I hate reverse parking.

I managed to damage the top of my bumper of my Si I had, parked up on a farm one night in the dark and didn't notice the stupid ledge sticking out of the wall I parked facing (it was small and pointy). Left a 2inch scrape :(
 
Do not fret!! Scrapes on a piece of frontal plastic will not detract from the sheer enjoyment of the Zed in 3.0 l manual guise. Concern oneself with the service history, mileage and function of engine, gearbox, roof mechanism, all electrics, state of alloys and most importantly check for evidence of a full service history and carefull ownership. Bear in mind, the guy may have allowed his wife to use the car!!LOL
 
Yes you will find it, no matter how careful it happens, unless you rub your hand underneath or look with a microscope who cares.
 
I haven't checked under mine for ages but I suspect it's scraped, it's my daily driver and it has to go everywhere, this occasionally means I hear a noise when going over a speed bump or particularly bumpy track. I don't worry about it, she's a tough old girl and a scrape on the plastic bumper will cause no problem at all.

If I worried about her then I'd not be taking her anywhere in this weather, she's a right state!

You can get the underside of the bumper scratched through no fault of your own - nothing to do with being careless, just bad luck.

Both myself and a mate in his MR2 drove slowly out of a small car park in Dunster (Somerset) and bottomed-out because of the design of the exit - there was no other way out, so we didn't have a choice (other than lifting the cars out :wink: ).

Hope you don't get a bit of bad luck and get called careless :poke:
 
I got one after tasting some wine in the California Napa Wine Valley. Might have been our third Winery stop. I wanted to go forward and hear a lil scrunch (there was a low front parking concrete pylon I totally forgot about after I had our third wine tasting session). Anyway I did back up and had a look not much to see and only I know about it and my daughter ... I do blame it on that last wine taste :headbang:

If the car has been driven over speed bumps or in multi-storey car parks then yes almost certainly will have scrapes, I have them. But then it is on a plastic bumper and underneath so you really can't see it unless you happen to park on a mirror...

oh and rolf - wine tasting and driving, naughty naughty :telloff:
