Are all zeds scraped underneath?

I have to admit, I’ve been involved in the dreaded bumper scrape :o . I've had my Z for 4 months, and the missus says I love it more than her... there could be some truth in that!

With the nose being so long i think it is inevitable that the bumper scrape may happen... it is gut wrenching, but there is no real damage is done, just a dent to your masculinity for a short while

You'll find scrapes on most sports cars with low front bumpers like the Z4.It doesn't mean a careless driver. I've scraped mine several times just exiting car parks ( the local multi storey is especially viscious) I've fitted a protector bought in the USA so I don't care now if I hear a little scrape, you almost can't avoid it. Don't let it stop you from buying an otherwise nice car,you can always have it sprayed up and made perfect, but remember, a used car is exactly that,it itsn't a new one, so don't expect it to be like new.

Once you buy a Z4 you will soon learn how easy it is to scrape the underside of the front bumper, especially if you get the 3.0 litre which sits really low. Its nothing to do with being careless its more to do with the long nose of the Z4 and the high kerb heights.

In answer to the original question, no they dont leave the factory with scraped undersides thats added later :headbang: .

Within the first month of owning mine i managed to bottom out the front bumper.... reversing off my parents steepish drive.

It cant be seen; but can be felt if i run my hand under it :(

My last Z4 was under the front bumper and so is my new one! Just the way it is sometimes with some strange exit slopes from car parks! :?

The only only scrapes under mine were caused by an over zealous body shop apprentice going up the ramp into the shop, the car was up on the lift after the body work was done to have the bushes fitted and i noticed the fresh scrapes with the blue paint they used on their floor, no real damage done and completly invisible when on the ground, However a bit of a raised voice to the body shop manager gets a 20% discount and one apprentice balled out by his manager in front of the customer (me) very satisfying
Apart from that no other scrapes, not bad for an 04 plate

 I wondered where the blue paint came from on mine.

I collected my zed, and drove 500 yards to the nearest post office to get road tax. Yah, you guessed it - slowly nosed into a parking space and scraped the underside of the front  A guy walking passed nearly jumped out his skin as it made a hell of a noise! No serious damage done except my ego, but the lesson was learned and I haven't done it again .....yet
