So which fanboys have shares?

... those guys are on the Ferrari forums ;)

Too true

I read a story of a guy who had Apple shares in the early days and cashed out for around $8,000. Had he kept them they would have been worth tens of millions :o

I had shares years ago, bought at about £20/share in the mid-90s, and they were doing okay for a while but sold them at about £25/share when they fell back from £50/share.

My mate kept about half of his from the same period - and while neither of us had thousands of shares, he still cashes in a few now & then to pay his mortgage.

I think people expect so much.

Ive said it once and will say it again, A company is LUCKY if it creates one industry changing product in a decade. Apple has made at least 3 and there is argument for 2 more.

The expectation that every iteration will produce some mind blowing 'change the way we live product' like the iPod, iPhone and iPad did. For the time being they are POLISHING and making the products better for the end user.

THIS IS FINE BY ME.

Innovation doesn't happen over night, the iPad and iPhone were in R&D for over 10 years.

What innovation are the products lacking exactly? That they are not invisible to the eye? or cant project they're screen on a billboard at 300dpi!? That it should be holographic and you can use the air between your fingers to sense the buttons!?

If you dont like them dont buy them, sick of listening to it. They are tools and they work END OF.

They are more suitable for 75% of users, because they work and you dont need a degree in computing for the average person to use, or like MS when they get slow buy a new one BS mantra that kept MS at the top for 10 years but their bubble burst pretty quickly. They are designed to be natural with no instructions necessary. I can vote this one works as my 80YO Grandma has one and she has no comp experience and was like a duck to water with it.

These products are class leading as it is. I dont care what everyone says about the competition! If there was no iPod, iPhone and iPad this whole industry wouldn't be where it is, let alone exist! All the competition are copies and I wouldn't call any of them improvements, just competition. Non have innovations the Apple products dont already have... they are just cheaper and add value added components. Apples mantra has been as it is now since it was born, less is more. Only include what it needs, this is the same through the entire lineup.

Nay sayers will always exist. Let them get on with it. Others just embrace, use and enjoy. Thats where I sit.

That. And I just think folks like to show off their newest, Shiniest, Bigger more complex toys therefore I'm more hip than you.

When I was shopping for my DSLR. There were always shouting matches on photo forums about how you were a numpty unless one bought a Muliti thousand dollar full frame Nikon/Canon body. Or folks who wanted to trade their one yr. old body for a new one as the new one had 5 more MP. The thing is. Most folk who own these monster cameras end up only looking at their photos on a 21-30 inch computer screen. And if they do a print. It might be an 8 X 10. And only rarely go to the trouble of printing something poster sized. Which an APS-C sensor can do just fine. It usually boils down to bragging rights among ones mates.

I even saw this at the motorcycle shop I once worked at. A guy comes in with a bike that he bought from us less than a year earlier. And wanted to trade for a newer one of the same model. We told him they were identical bikes. He said sure, But that motorcyclist magazine in their test of the new one said it was .01 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile. :scratchhead:
OK. He was to upside down though and couldn't trade.

Apple press event tomorrow, will we see the new iPhone?

Clearly past my sell by date. I had assumed that an Apple Press event was to do with cider making :P

Lol - well.... after reading the announcement from Apple so far today about the iClone 5, you gotta laugh, its still way behind the likes of the S3 and One X but no doubt there will still be the idiots camping outside the Apple stores from next week onwards to get one. baa.

I don't agree with everything you say here Tom but a very well articulated case nevertheless

Summed up well.

Jony Ive in the video: "With this unique relationship with your iPhone, we take changing it very seriously."

Some details concerning US pricing...

The iPhone 5 will go on sale on Sept. 21, starting at $199 for the 16-gigabyte version with a new two-year contract. Larger 32 GB and 64 GB versions will cost $299 and $399, respectively. Apple will begin taking pre-orders on Sept. 14.

As Apple has done before, the two previous iterations of the iPhone will continue to be sold at reduced prices. The 16 GB iPhone 4S will get a $100 price cut, selling for $99, and the iPhone 4 will be free with a two-year contract.

I'll be using the next couple of days to weigh up the new iPhone vs the Samsung S3, it'll probably be the iPhone for me but having read all the leaks, it is a little underwhelming.

My 3GS really needs replacing though and going apple is the easy choice but not the cheapest.
