As above really. I tried but failed. Followed the guide and some YouTube videos but cant take get past step one, taking the vents out.m! Slightly scratched of the black finish in the gap at the top, so gave up. Anyone want to earn some beer tokens?
It's just taken me 3 days to do this exact same job. Couldn't see the pins at all! Turns out they weren't clipped into place properly. The previous owner covered the aluminium dash in alcantara (looks ace!) which meant the vents and stereo sit slightly proud of the surface and wouldn't clip in.
A few confident shoves and it just pulled out.
It is a bit of a pain in the arse but all I can suggest is that you need to be firm but careful when pulling the vents out.
Cheers Tony! Scratching my head over this one. Seems like the previous owner(s) may have had a play with it before. I'm thinking replacment new dash, if thats possible to gain access to radio.
Go the other route in. If you have small hands you can pop the panel off below the ac then work your hand up to the bottom left of the head unit where it plugs in.
Greeno - yep tried that too but isn't an oem cable and already has cd stack on place.
EDIT : just got text from J to say he's list some skin on his knuckles but has now done exactly as suggested by Greeno - clearly I didn't have the magic touch Happy Days.
Well, you never guess it. I dont have the smallest hands but, yesterday tony showed me the panel underneath the ac control. Managed to do it. So happy (i'm easily pleased)
