Anyone seen the Olympic torch?

I've got a mate who works in Canary Wharf. He - and pretty much most of his colleagues - have been told to go on holiday during the Olympics. Apparently because they don't think that the transport system will cope!

I don't think he needs much persuasion. He lives in that block of flats that now has anti-aircraft missiles on the roof, so he's planning to escape to the country for a couple of weeks...!

I was at a meeting with TfL (Transport for London) some months ago and the topic of The London Underground was brought up. Evidently around 3m per day is the peak on a busiest day, on the busiest day during the games they are forecasting over 6m :?

It actually surprises me that this torch thing actually ever took off considering it was started by the Nazis. are we actually admitting that the Nazis had a good Idea.

Have you seen the tube congestion map, i.e. how long you may have to wait for a train during the Olympics ? It is scary, especially if you wind in the absolute fact that TfL will NOT be presenting worst case publicly. The even scarier thing is that the train operating companies are not obliged to publish any forecasts, but there will be huge numbers of people coming into London on the overground each day too. If you are not going to any events, don't go into London. Period.

If I can dig out the map I have I will post it later

Came through Winchester today - great atmosphere - a real "buzz" in the air
