I am not a proper nerd by any means, but a friend posted this on Facebook and I had a good read. It *seems* that with the accelerating take up of secure cloud storage and solid state memory technology, as well as the introduction of proper 4G wireless networks, they may just have found the right wave to ride with the right product at the right time. Personally I love the idea of one device for everything, though you do need a screen and keyboard to use at a desk. No-one's managed to crack it yet. The most interesting thing to me was actually the way they are funding it - target of $32m to raise from pre-production sales of something that is not finished.. Basically they are selling it and getting payment prior to even finalising the spec - so if they pre-sell enough to hit the target then they will go into production.if not everyone gets their money back. Really innovative approach - using the mass market to invest, rather than VCs or large companies, not something I have seen before... Though I guess they'll want a couple to dip in their pockets if possible as they're only at $9m with just over a week to go.
I like it a lot - stylish / good looking too.
