Anyone know this car!

Evening all, found another Z4 I might buy! These things are addictive 🤣

It’s a low mileage hel rot red 3.0i SE (reg A6 OFB) which i know is rare so hoping someone might be able to help me.

I’ve provisionally bought it and am potentially picking up this Sat morning. Problem is there’s a mileage discrepancy according to BMWs service record database! 😫 MOT history all looks good though.

Just thought I’d check on here in case anyone knows the car or even owned it as has had 4 owners.

Any info would be great.

I don’t know the car but I’d be asking the seller about the last MoT advisories and check they’ve all been addressed. The list goes on ...

Bit of info here. Looks like she needs some T Cut! :D

"SOURCE - This fabulous low mileage BMW Z4 3.0i Roadster has been received by ourselves in part exchange against a Mercedes B Class. However there is a communication fault with the airbag system which has caused the airbag light to display on the dashboard. We cannot seem to rectify this ourselves so rather than spent more time and money diagnosing and repairing we have taken the decision to list the vehicle at a low price but the vehicle is supplied with this fault. "

Yes good point 👍

I questioned these and they have been repaired according to the owner, will be checking when I go to collect the car Saturday, if I end up buying, need to get to the bottom of the mileage discrepancy! Could just be an error on BMW’s part or the cars been clocked! I’m sure I’m being over cautious! it’s just with a car this old to have such low mileage always makes you worry!

Thanks for this, 👍

Is there any other way of finding out the mileage other than via MOT history and BMW service data base?

Got a real dilemma with what to do!

Whats the discrepancy exactly? I'd say the MOT history is going to be gospel because its logged by an MOT tester each time the car comes in..?

Carly app allows a check of all the modules that record mileage to see if there is any discrepancies

A car of this age buy on visable condition, the mot history is pretty comprehensive. Are you paying a premium for the low miles,is that what’s bothering you?.I would ask to see a receipt for work done on the brakes ,as it looks to be an ongoing issue.

If the mileage has been tampered with there will be a dot next to the reading on the dash display

Unless as has happened to me that the tester had sausage fingers and input the wrong mileage which can’t be corrected, even by DVLA. The only way round this was for the same tester to retest the car a week or so later entering the correct mileage and writing on the old/wrong MOT that he’d incorrectly entered the mileage and retested and put the garage stamp on it and signed it.

Absolute PITA as it won’t show anywhere if someone was carrying out an electronic check on it.

According to a HPI check their is no history of a mileage discrepancy 👍

There’s a discrepancy with the BMW data base service history. Though have had this before with my last M3 and turned out to be an error. Will speak to bmw again and see if they can investigate further.

Well I’m paying more than other Z4s out there with higher mileage and 55k miles is pretty low for a E85 Z4, am particularly interested due to it being in Hel Rot would love one in Hel Rot red! Yes the seller has said they have the receipt for brake pipe repair, as I agree does seem to be a reoccurring issue in MOT history is this normal for a z4? I had a advisory on my last MOT for my NS rear. Is this a big job?

Thanks for all the reply’s guys!

Your all being really helpful 🙏

This forum is bloody awesome! and one of the reasons I love Z4s so much!

Its an app that uses a plug in obd connector and your phone / tablet to read faults and do coding. do a google search for carly for bmw but many members have one

It's quite a common issue on Z4s. I had to have both rear brake pipes replaced on my 2nd one when it was 10 years old after getting advisories for 2 years running.

It's not straight-forward as the BMW brake pipes are pre-formed so you have to drop the fuel tank to get the driver's side one routed throught the supporting clips between the tank and the rear cabin bulkhead. If replacing in copper/kunifer the new pipe can be poked through the clips with the tank in place then shaped afterwards.

It also doesn't help that only one of the pipes has a join under the plastic cover that is beneath the car below the passenger seat - but I can't remember which of the two pipes it is.

Anyway that's why I paid someone else to replace mine!

If tampered it would read " .55456 " (with a large dot before the digits)
