Anyone fitted uprated Anti roll bars?

Eibach springs fitted today. Already noticed improved driving characteristics from the car in the 20 mile return journey. Also got a nice pair of 90mm Carbon/ Steel tips while there. :D

I have them on order and that is the plan, I am wondering if it is worth doing however as the springs have made a difference

It will be interesting to see the incremental effect for the benefit of mankind

I fitted new dampers and ARBs at the same time and changed wheel sizes so it’s not possible for me to apportion the relative effects..

I think you need to be really clear in your own mind what your objectives are for fitting thicker ARB's. Yes you will get less body roll into the corners but this is nearly always at the detriment of increased understeer (if fitted at the front) or oversteer (if fitted at the rear).

You have to be especially careful with the rears as it can cause the car to 'snap' into oversteer very quickly without much warning. OK so the DSC will probably still catch it if not disabled but BMW spent an awful lot of development cost on the suspension tuning of these cars and ARB thickness is pretty fundamental as to how all the various components interact.

Hmm, I have ordered front and rear. 🤔....so, double the issue you mention, or will having front and rear result in balance restored, and so improved dynamics ?

You have to fit ARBs as a pair otherwise the turn in response will be assymetric, H&R issue dire warnings about this..if the supplier doesn't then its probably not doing much apart from draining your wallet

Correct but Ph001 seems to be suggesting negative effects of front or rear being done, I clarified above that I have ordered f+r, so hopefully none of the issues ph001 was discussing

Not sure where your confusion is here about my supplier ?

In theory you will get more understeer and ‘snappier’ oversteer, but of course it’s a lot more complex than that depending on spring rates, geometry, alignment and tyres. You probably won’t notice it much on the road but you certainly will on a track with DSC off. Maybe it’s desirable depending on the current characteristics of your car, but maybe not!

Ok got it. I did some research on this and the overall msg was that you will get much better handling until the (higher) limits are reached of the revised setup. I don't think many will reach those limits on street driving unless trying to outrun a Police BMW X5 on the local bypass (you see what I did there with the X5 link ? Lolz).

Dont get the X5 link Mav, please explain? Also did you fit the eibach f+r arbs? And what concusions did you come to? I have active susp with eibach springs, an excellent choice if I do say so myself. Am thinking about new ARBs too and got a bit confused with all the info before. Bigger turbos is on the horize just wanna make sure the car can handle the power first. Thanks (did you see what l did there?).

Hi, the X5 thing was a bad attempt at humour

Yes I had the front and rear ARB's changed on my car at the same time as springs like you. The car now rolls much less than before on bends and on roundabouts I found
