Anyone else worried about Lewis?

Well he's Sir Lewis now!

Whether you like him or not, with 7 titles now he's got to be more deserving than whiney Jackie Stewart.

The whole honours system is a farce and anybody who had anything about them would turn it down.I would support a system were awards honoured people who had improved society, not well paid sportsmen, singers and the like.

He doesn't even live in the UK. Not for a long time. Tax avoider.

Amen to that.

While there's no denying his credentials as a world champion he's a bit of a tax dodging whiny c**t thats completely out of touch with reality, how someone has the balls to put him up for a knighthood is beyond belief, great driver not a great human being imho

Surely, he will turn it down due to the links to colonialism, slavery etc....

10/10 reply

Always disliked Hammy, whiney, selfish and arrogant
All this "Im so oppressed and marginalised and victimised" baws just makes me dislike him more :fuelfire:

He doesn't seem too popular on here does he?

I'm no fan of his personal life choices, but God I wish I had even half his talent in a car!

And if I had that sort of income I think I'd prefer living in Monaco to living in the UK, especially this time of year.

Tbh I dont think he is actually all that good, he has consistently found himself in the fastest and best performing car on the track, giving him an outright advantage, added to that the poor showings from him in difficult conditions and the final nail for me was when Russell got the seat and what he achieved with that chance. He basically pulled hammy's knickers down in front of the class

Well I'm not sure about that - he made the highly revered Alonso look pretty average in his rookie season!

But I'd agree George Russell looks like a great prospect if he could get a seat in a decent car - here's hoping.

Cods wallop. :P

George would be a star in the same car and I hope he gets the chance one day, he already has stats that suggest he's a future talent
Lets not forget JB beat LH on points over 3 seasons at McLaren with the Canadian GP master class performance and in the wet No.1 of that time.

For me there is only one potentially legened since Senna and thats Max Verstappen, proper talent that over performs the wheels he drives and for me the best driver bar none.

LH is too busy being political and its having a negative impact on his beliefs, LH is good but he aint the best and neither was Micheal Schumacher. Senna was No.1, MV has the ability to take that from him. Just my opinion don't shoot me :tumbleweed:

If only all the cars were to the same manuafacturing specs, oh and bring back Murray Walker, I always find the current commentators in their tight chinos and designer stubble hightly off-putting

Maybe car racing should take a look at Moto2 bike racing. This series has one manufacturer engine and the teams all get this engine, from there its all down to chassis changes, areodynamics and the rider. Very close racing.
I dont watch much car racing, maybe they already have something like this.

Well the new budget cap is supposed to level the playing field as much as possible, wether it works remains to be seen, hopefully it’ll have some influence. Also 2022 sees a raft of changes to the cars mostly moving to 18” wheels and a lot of aero tightening so another leveller, again hopefully they’ll work well. Shame covid stopped them coming in this year which was what was supposed to happen.

I do hope Merc grow a pair, paint their car the correct colour and stop pampering him this year, they need to as if they don’t and carry on, when he retires they’ll have to carry on with a black car or be accused of only supporting black people if they have a black driver. :(

The codswallop was simply because George wasn't racing Lewis. He was racing the other fellow, who has shown many times he folds under enough pressure.

Completely agree about George being a fantastic driver and probably faster than Lewis now, as Lewis is driving more cautiously as he gets older.

Also agree on JB, I rated him above Alonso.

I'm not convinced about Max. He clearly has the speed and talent. But that is only a small part of being a great driver in F1. Perhaps it should not be like that, but it is. Just look at Vettle never any good IMHO, just had the fastest car and tosh team mates, but he was in the right place at the right time and new how to get things done in an F1 car. Lewis can do that too and also drive fast when he has to. I'm not convinced Vettle could ever drive fast, yet he has 4 titles.

So back to George Russle and yes he is the full package too. If he gets the drive, then for sure he can be an F1 world champion and possibly show Lewis it is time to hang up his boots. Lewis is a fantastic driver though and at the point Russel is at in his career I would have backed him to beat both him and Max. Now though I suspect he may be slowing down just enough for then to beat him given the same package.

Role on the 2021 season. :D

Hmm 2021 will be much the same as 2019... back to a boring calendar, LH still in a winning mercedes, MV still in a second best redbull, GR still in a williams at the back. Oh and still no spectators at races.

I say roll on 2022 when LH retires, GR steps up to mercedes and has a proper dingdong with MV.

Walker and Hunt made it for me. Maybe a reason I never watch it any more. I still remember gettting up at 4am to watch Mansell in Oz.

Hamlington won’t retire in 2022 Brillo, this new contract will be for a minimum of 3 years yet, then with a clause for an extension should he desire and if he’s still on it. You’re right about this season, a re-run of this one just finished. No opposition in the sister Merc’, a sometimes there or thereabouts but not consistent Red Bull with, imho only, the quickest driver in F1 wringing it’s neck. Ferrari nowhere again, so Sir hypocrite will easily win again, Bottas will crumble like the pleasant but gutless wingman he’s always been....such a shame, if they just put Russell or Verstappen in the sister Merc we’d have a half decent championship, but alas it’s going to be another yawn fest, and another year of the relentless self absorbed drum banging we’ve just had thrust at us....like it or not..... :(

Sorry I know I’m probably being unpleasant but it’s true.

,

Nobody can take LH record of wins poles of fastest laps off him, he isn't 7 x champion for any other reason for being fast. Back in 2007/8 he had character and more balls than others in them days, now he has talent and knowledge of the sport but I think this has tainted him.

I see MV as Lewis was back in them times, hungry and unbeatable if given the same tools, what we need as I'm sure you will agree is a team mate that will push LH to be more competitive or some other teams that can compete to do the same. Hopefully Mclaren with the same Mercedes engine will produce that, maybe Lando and Danny Ric can spice things up in 2021  Danny Ric was the only team mate that challenged Max as long as I can remember.

Got to agree with some others though that the mixed up 2020 season made it more intersting and I'd love to see the same tracks again in 2021.

As far as Seb is concerned I thinl he shoud've retired when Charles embarassed him, Danny Ric did it also, I can't see Force India, racing point or Aston Martin providing a car that will take him back to his glory days, I honestly believe Sergio Perez would do a far better job and whilst I dont expect him to beat Max next year like for like. If Lance gets anywhere near him which I think will then Seb's record will be seriously tarnished. :poke:

We need to have a 2021 Fantasy F1 league next year - Im new to this forum so let me know if it's been done already
