Tried to move - it wasn't going anywhere... :headbang:
Looking forward to getting into work tomorrow!! :driving:

This, plus a load more - I'm up on a ridge near Tunbridge Wells - usually get the worst of the snow, getting on for a foot on the car! Haven't tried using the Z, it was useless in Feb and this is worse by a long way.

Managed to use my wife's 3 series, that was pretty sketchy!

I haven't driven my car since Friday. I went out this afternoon and found out my car was covered by 7 inches of snow. I took me 20 minutes to clear it for tomorrow.

Thursday night, Friday and Saturday were so much fun

I would have left the snow on the car. Then, when it had melted off you could think again about the advisability of determining the winter weather capabilities of the Z4.

Nearly crashed twice today. Nearly ice-skated out of a junction into an oncoming van. Did a full-on sidewards drift for 15 yards down our village road as well, thankfully with no-one coming the other way.

Mines safely tucked up in the garage - luckily, i got an old escort estate for day to day stuff - wouldn't fancy sliding the Z about TBH.

Can the weight of the snow damage the roof on a convertible?

I'm sure BMW will have built and tested it for this. After all any snow we get in minor compared with some parts of the world.

That said if it got more than a foot deep I'd want to brush some off and I wouldn't drive with a pile of it on the roof.

I reckon more damage will come from folding the roof down if frozen (but not covered in snow!!!) to enjoy open air driving

Mine was snow-free when I set off - that photo was just to show how deep the snow was sitting on the roof.

had some fun in a tesco's carpark yesterday... roof down (car was in garage all night), heaters on...
was fun right up to when i lost control and churned up a load of fresh snow.
roof went back up and fun continued (once I'd dug myself out of my own car :P)

I thought it was shocking when I was driving on the M25 yesterday with people with cars with huge piles of snow either on the roof or bonnet. Dozens were parked on the hard shoulder clearing it as surprise, surprise - the snow blocks the screen when the wind catches it - or they brake and the roof load comes down.

That, to me, is dangerous driving. As far as I am concerned, book the lot of them for it.

Going off topic slightly but that, and the road conditions recently, illustrate why the idea that cameras are a cheap replacement for traffic plod is ill conceived.

Monday, my car is stuck, should i clear the avenue so i can get to work tomorrow?

I have a company car, my Zed ain't going anywhere for a few days

lol.. no. Health and Safety would suggest you need adequet protective gear, and as you've not been supplied with said items, you shouldn't endanger your health for work-related activities...

:P

That's impressive snow, looks like around here (without the ridiculous cold temps). Drive careful folks, I really don't want to see any photos of Zed prang ups.

How long will it stay before the roads become a slushfest ??
