Any Z4Ms in QLD, Australia?

I love my Zed to bits but a few months back I began yearning for more power. I've decided that either a Z4M Roadster or an sdrive35i will be next but as many know these cars (especially the M) are much rarer here in Oz.

I'm leaning towards the M, but I really want to go for a drive/ride in one to experience what it's like and compare to an E89. People who know me have recommended the M, but I need to experience for myself.

So my question is this: are there any Z4M owners on here from SE QLD? If so I'd really appreciate being shown what the car is like so I can decide what I want. Coupe or Roadster doesn't matter - both will give a pretty good feel for it.

Fingers crossed someone out there will be able to help out!

I'm in Sydney................but sadly my ///M is still in London :(
They certainly aren't as common here in Oz as they are in London, but I see a Sepang ///M Roadster fairly frequently near where I live and one of my anaesthetists has an ///M Coupe, so hopefully someone near you will own one.

Yeah I've only seen one here on the Sunshine Coast (Phoenix Yellow), but my service adviser tells me there's a black roadster and coupe around too (that they look after).

If it's not obvious by my post count I just want to reiterate that I'm not some bogan looking for a joyride - I'm a serious Z4 enthusiast trying to decide what to buy next ;)

Mate, I think you will be flat out trying to find one to go for a ride in let alone buy one over in oz. I've seen one (non-m) in the whole time I've lived in syd. I've never seen one for sale in Sydney, ever. I wonder how many were sold in oz? When I go back, I'll be taking mine with me : D not sure about the e89, I have seen a few of those. I'd recon you probably have more luck finding one of those.

Good luck with your search though. They are a great car.

V.

Cheers mate. I checked with BMW Australia a few months back and they reported that 76 M roadsters were brought into the country. Going by the ratio of cars on carsales I'd estimate that there would be at least a couple of hundred coupes.

E89s are indeed more common, but I've promised myself I won't make any compromises for this next purchase ;)

I love your way of thinking matey ; ) sadly that ratio is the wrong way around. :) the coupe is much, much rarer by far. 76 roadsters in oz, I'd say less than 20 coupes then : ) and that would be oz wide?? Wow. But yeah if you were in Dxb, happy to go for a spin : )

Vanne, have you looked into the cost of importing an ///M into Australia? I considered bringing mine out here but it would have been horrendously expensive :headbang:

Yeah not really, I mean looked at the cost of taking the zed home. I'll have to get a container anyways for our family stuff, and will easily chuck the coupe in. So that cost ain't gonna be much ontop. I'll need to pick up a steering rack /extractors and dash from the uk before going as I'll be needing to do the conversion left to right. It'll be a project. ; D
I left a zed behind in unzed when I was working there and (pretty much) gave the car away, not doing that again. That and finding a zed4mc in oz in as good nick as the one I've got now, no chance, and that's not even talking about cash. I've got most of my running gear refurbed, new suspension and other mods that I don't want to have to do again. You get nothing back for any of it if you sell.

What would an ///M coupé sell for in Aus?

Would you not be better off, selling in Aus and buying another in the UK at (presumably) a much lower cost?

Hmm, that would possibly work if I was living in Oz, but actually I live in Dubai, will be here for a few years yet, and then going home to Oz.. So not really sure wheee your coming from or what you mean?
anyways enough of thread hijacking, back to Mango's question : D

Sorry thought you were a Brit living in Oz (didn't notice the "Dubai" in your tag, just saw the Flag).

There were officially 106 M coupes brought into Oz.

They are quite rare - makes it all the more special when you do see one!

I just did a quick search for ///MCs and ///MRs for sale in Oz - I can find a few for sale in every state....except QLD!

Yeah that confirms my theory that there were more coupes. Certainly for non-Ms the roadster is far more popular, but the Ms were a different market segment and the majority of those drivers preferred a tin top.

Carsales only has the one roadster and 8 coupes at current. And yes, they're everywhere but QLD :x
Have you seen some other roadsters for sale elsewhere?

Market varies a lot - when I bought mine, there were more roadsters available than coupes... now the other way round!

I live in Melbourne and I see one other Z4M once a month maybe... usually it is a roadster!

There is def a black m roadster in Bris. I lived at Kangaroo Point and regularly saw it at River terrace. Not much help though i"m afraid!

Wow, ok, there are lots on car sales.com.au...

But they are pretty pricey..
Yeah they're the going prices. Not too bad considering it's around 1/3 of the price when new!

Wow, no worries Mango. I guess you could always travel interstate and do the drive back mate. I pretty sure Krusty is from oz too, possibly hit him up for a drive.

Yeah I'm quite happy to buy from interstate (and even get it sent up by road transport after I check it out in person) - but in the meantime I just need to sample one ;)
