divorced 6 years this month, I did mine online for not a lot of money.. well apart from the 65k I gave my ex but it made it all amicable and I kept the house and the car and half the belongings and she didnt want half my pension so a bit of a result in my eyes :-)

I can't believe Poshies are being discussed on here. Haha. Sorry to hear Woots [emoji20][emoji20][emoji20]

Poshy ... Put it this way. When we were nippers, my mate had to explain to his mum where all the condoms had gone that he'd been given as a joke for his sixteenth. First thing she asked was, who are you having sex with. Answer was ... "Nobody". Mother asks ... " where are the condoms then" ... Mate runs out with a red face.

He will never live that down!!! Good old poshies.

Should of said he made huge waterbombs out of them

this is actually quite scary all joke aside.....

ive neve been married and would like to one day....... It seems if the big D comes in we must prepare to literally be stripped of all our fucking hard work.... for example, if i get married, and someone moves into MY house which I've owned for 7 years now, does this mean half all my s**t instantly becomes hers??? if so... f**k that..... marriage just seems more hassle that its worth .

I would tread very carefully my friend , even consider professional advice before making any steps forward :?
My sister met a fella , recently divorced with £180k from selling joint home ( which he had pretty much provided from working 7 days a week )
They married & bought a house outright with the £180k ( my sister only had debt  ) in moves my sister with her 2 teenagers & all went well for 3 years then my sister decides he wasn,t right for her , , i felt for the guy in all honesty ,
The choice was sell the house & split the proceeds or he gives her half the house value , yep she wandered off with around £90k  fukin scandalous situation i felt but the law is the law & once solicitor,s get involved it,s a licence to help themselves to anything & everything

That should be 'at least half all my s**t instantly becomes hers'

There's a warning in the marriage vows - it's the bit that goes with all my worldly goods, I thee endow - and some women seem to apply the literal meaning of those words :x

You could have a pre marital agreement in place though. Thought all film stars did those?

I always thought that short marriages meant each party got 'reinstated' to their entry level...unless one party can prove they sacrificed themselves financially for the good of the partnership...if not that's pretty scary...always avoided marriage myself!

This is correct, as my experience proved.

Wouldn,t call 3 years a short marriage :? that,s a fair amount of time to serve

i have no idea of the how the law stands & no direct experience but i do no she had zero going in & a few quid short of £90k coming out 3 years later
was approx 4 years ago ?

Cashmere socks are best, IMO. If you wash them on a delicate setting before they dry out you'll get 8-10 good uses out of each one

On topic - very sad Woots. Don't jump the gun, be very, very sure mate.

fair point, but given the age of the children and the financial contributions I would say it's relatively short.

don't know the specifics, but prima facie i'd have been a bit miffed if it were me!

I genuinely felt bad for the guy after it happened twice within 5 years so effectively he "lost" £270k , but a few phrases do spring to mind
