Any regrets with softtop?

A hardtop really is the best of both worlds  I loved mine. I was gutted when it sold, but I had nowhere to store it without risking it getting damaged

Also, if the hard top comes with the plastic 'covers' (for some part inside), you can sell them and retire to a villa in Spain

With the soft top stowed, the hard top just sits on top. It's a takes just a few minutes, but it's a two man job and remember you need somewhere to stow it in the summer.

No regrets on buying mine 6 years ago.
Mine is a daily driver and mostly motorway miles. Stays outside in all weathers and simply gets driven.
Yes it is noisier on the motorway, but not too bad.
Go for the hardtop is you don’t want to lower the roof in the winter on those rare sunny days, and you have place to store it during the summer.
Like any car, look after it and it will last.

Thanks for the suggestions i didnt realise this option would be possible, i was hoping for a convertable hardtop option but i guess this is the next best thing

In terms of the logistics, if i bought one would the person fit it on for me and does it require removing the softtop or just folding it in and putting this on top?

Most people want to do so much with their Zs when they first get them (me included). I advise settling down with your new ride and if in a couple of months you think you really need it then go for it.

I thought I needed the hardtop so I bought one, ended up selling it 6 months later, never having even fitted it. It just sat in the garage.... but then i had a garage.

OP the E85 and the later E89 drive/ride/handle completely differently. If you want a comfy cruiser the E89 is the one. If you want something that's more hardcore/lighter/eager then its the E85 . It's because of these differences why a lot of E85 owners wouldn't consider an E89 and vice versa

Thats for the clarification, i did mean the e89 and would probably have bought that due to the hard top and think it looks good. However glad to read i accidently bought the better car!

I will look out for a hardtop and maybe fit in once summer is over. Why does it seem impossible to buy unless your lucky enough to get one second hand? Are there no producers of these?

Bought a roadster and no regrets. I love the looks of the coupe, but love driving with the roof down more. It is my first convertible and I am a convert!

Steady on, that's a subjective opinion
i enjoyed my 85, but as it lived outside the 89 makes more sense, and certainly takes nothing from my enjoyment.
probably helped that i went from 177hp to 255hp.
i have no regrets changing :)

Same here. I was only intending to keep it a few months but top down motoring is way too much fun!

Could have been worse... “breadvan”

Although not a bad name going by google’s interpretation...
