ANOTHER z4m video review

It was a fun day, he's a good lad. I let him have the car for about 4 hours. He was so happy to be able to record so much content with it.

I think the first one will be up this afternoon.

As a suggestion, maybe Joel should keep this going if forum any members would let him test their:
- E89, maybe a mid-range model followed by a stock 3.5is... & then a chipped one
- then any G29 member brave enough to let him borrow their new toy when it arrives

Least then you’d have a recent across the board test & he could share a final review of what was good & what could be better in each of the variants, suggesting which one would you should go for depending on wants

When I was chatting with him last weekend, I told him my reasons for letting him have access and the time needed to film with my "M".

I think it's really important to encourage and calibrate younger drivers who share the same love of cars as "we" (older drivers) do. When I was getting into E30's in my 20's, some of the older members were very supportive in helping me learn about the E30 and giving advice on getting things done. Without this encouragement, I don't think I would have managed to discover just how great it is to be part of a car club and never would have gone to shows and meets. This is something I ended up sharing with my own father and is one of our most loved father and son activities.

It's by helping younger drivers get into "our" car culture, that more cars will stay on the road and in years to come, more people will be keeping the demand and support for these cars/parts up enough, that we all benefit from it.

Later in the year, once the weather is good enough, I've said to Joel that I am ok with him doing some more videos, where he can have the roof down and really push the car better on the open road.

He's told me earlier this morning, that the first video will be going live at 5:30pm and another video with it, will go live on Saturday.

Here's the link to the first video Joel has put together with my E85 M. I'm pretty pleased with how well he captured the true colour of my Carbon Black, which has a lot of blue in it. Usually when I see picture etc of my car, the paintwork tends to come out pretty black.

I hope over the series of videos he is uploading with my car, it really helps some younger petrolheads choose a Z4 as their first proper sports car.

Great video, but the sport button has zero effect on the steering ;)

Yeah I did notice he said that. I did tell him that it's just the throttle response that changes. I think he was mixing it up with how it works with his 3.0

Great watch. The permanent smile on his face says everything you need to know about the 35is :D

Disagree there. The steering feels a little heavier and more responsive. Any tracking issues with the runflats disappear when in sport especially when motorway driving.

Are you saying BMW went to all the trouble of 'firming' the steering as you put it but then decided to tell no one about it :? And no one else can notice any difference either... It's not me, it's them :D

Dynamic Driving Control
In contrast to the descriptions in the Owner's
Manual for the BMW Z4, please take note of the
following differences for your BMW Z4 M Roadster/Z4 M Coupe.
At the touch of a button, the Dynamic Driving
Control's Sport mode enables you to drive your
BMW in an even sportier style:
The engine responds more spontaneously to
any motion of the accelerator pedal.
Activating the system
> Car at standstill:
With the key in position 2, press the SPORT
button.
The LED in the button comes on.
> While driving:
Press the SPORT button.
The LED in the button comes on.
The system is activated when you release
the accelerator pedal.
Deactivating the system
Press the SPORT button again.
The LED in the button goes out

I think you're not talking about an E85/E86 M, but with your E89 right?

The Sport button puts the steering rack into placebo mode. :driving:

I really loved Joel’s Z4m Coupe review, I just wish he didn’t say that he felt the Z4m Roadster steering responsiveness changing with the Sport button because he immediately lost any credit he had in my mind. I’m not joking, I really enjoyed his previous z4m review, but now I won’t be able to believe anything he says about a car after this Sport button thing...

Joel, make yourself a favour and take this video down, I’m serious mate. (Or just edit it out)

Well, exactly! I can totally believe that if he thought it would make a difference, it would feel like it made a difference. The placebo effect is a thing. Sport button doing something to the steering on an ///M, however, is not.

I’m glad you enjoyed the review guys. It’s hard to say anything negative about the M, I had a blast filming that one.
