Here are the follow up emails I received from him:
"Good morning Nathan,
I received a notification from gumtree in which they recommend using brokerage companies for distant transactions. The brokerage company they were talking about is Pay Point England and this is their website: http://www.ukautotraders.co.uk. I've spoke to my boss about this and he advised me to use this company as well because I don't want to take these days off and ... maybe come for nothing, I mean that there is a risk because if you don't show up my boss will not allow me to take another day off because I'm new here so, I must be covered somehow plus there will be some expenses with the road trip as well.
I have read their terms and I do think this is the best way for both of us since there is a long way and we both need to be sure we'll get what we want. You can read how an auto broker works here: http://www.ukautotraders.co.uk/howitworks.php . As soon as I arrive you can verify it at any inspection service you want and only if you decide to keep it, they will release the money to me so, I believe this is the safest way. With an intermediary company involved between us I can be sure that you will be coming at the meeting because it's a very long distance and I want to be 100% sure nothing unexpected comes up and I dont' want to drive all the way for nothing. Let me know your decision because there is another person who wants to buy it and I need to know which way to go as for their commission, I'm willing to cover it."
"Are you still interested in buying my car?
I'm willing to let it go for £3500 and we can use this brokerage company because I saw that gumtree recommends this brokerage company for a transaction like this. You can read some tips here at this link where I also saw the gumtree's recommendations:

I believe this is the safest way since we are so far from each other. Let me know what you think."
We can't be having his boss get angry with him now, can we?
