....with a twist?
after a race with andysat for a set of LED strip lights for the boot (both ordered from same place on same day, in which Andy won) i finally got around to fitting them a week ago!
Initially the process I followed was the example originated by aquazi and pauly (i think), strip the wires back a little, feedthough a spare led bulb holder (two led bulbs inc holders on ebay BIN 99p inc delivery). However i changed this approach after a few days as the wires fed through the bulb holder were too thin to stay in postion against the electrical contacts.....
I bought a WHITE strip and a strip of RED. The idea was to wire them both together, fit into the holder and plug into the standard boot light fitting and once installed both red and white would be on when the boot lid was opened.
White led attached in a position facing down and backward to illuminate the cargo space and the red led facing out towards the road as a safety measure. the photos are rubbish but cos i only have a camera on my phone and cant adjust light settings etc but you get the idea........
Footwell installs are same as everyone else has done, but after putting the strip in the driver footwell, i worried about it dropping off and getting caught in the pedals at the least opportune time, so i took it out and replaced the standard filament bulb with a single white led bulb in the standard footwell light fitting. Not as bright as the strip but the same colour as the passenger footwell, and def better than OEM!
Sorry, forgot to take pic of driver footwell
Like i said i ended up changing the way i wired in the leds and it couldnt be simpler..... each led has a positive and negative wire, each standard bulb holder has a positive and negative point, i think you can see where this is going..... yep strip the plastic off the led wires wrap positive to positive and negative to negative... hey presto!!
Very easy mod and highly recommended!
