Does anyone know where I can get a CIC upgrade file for the software update? Or is what im running the latest version? Still trying to sort out these mr12volt issues

Multimedia version: MX-003.004.031
Telephone version: TX-003.004.031

You'd have to use the ISTA/ISTP winkp BMW tool set to do that..

The numbers you highlighted are the firmware from the blue tooth adapter..that's not the CIC s/w..

I can't see that making much difference..it was frozen over in 2013 ish..

My 2011 CIC formware worked fine and others have fitted it to pre 2011 units with no issues..

Ahhh thanks didnt realize that wasnt the software for cic Pulled it from the software information from the idrive settings. Guess an exhange is in order.

I had a different fault with my CIC and found people in the UK and Europe that would service them..I’m sure there are similar entities in NA

Don't know if I stumbled upon the issue here. Insight could be helpful

I found this device once I took off the client control panel
Looks to be possiblity aftermarket? I'm assuming maybe for the backup camera?
If anyone knows if I could somehow get this working with the mr12volt would be appreciated 😀

Looks like you have the optional BMW TV unit…I sssune..never seen one…who knows how /if that interferes with the Mr 12 Volt ?

Definitely aftermarket.
Difficult to say for certain, or even how it's connected. Personally I'd look at ripping it out, but after checking where/how it's connected. You'd still get your camera input through the Mr12volt, so no biggy it removing it.

Yeah I ripped it out, but the job who ever did this... I have two leftover plugs from the rear camera looks to be female banana plug for video and power/ground just don't know what to ground to

Other than rear camera not working the mr12volt does so I'm much happier to sacrifice the camera for now or look into a better camera

Thank you for all the help you have provided! True blessing to this community. Very happy I have aa working now it really makes this car feel that much more modern, rear camera I'll look into replacing with something mr12 supports

So the yellow one, as you say, is the video feed. this should just plug straight into the appropriate Female one on the Mr12volt end. As for the power supply I now recommend not bothering to run a power supply through the car, but instead fit one of these filters...

(Yes I appreciate it's a UK link, but at least you can get the info for a US supplier)

With this you can just tap into the reverse light feed and the a local negative in the trunk area to power the camera. Normally when you tap into the reverse light for power it can create a flickering on the screen, but with this filter that smooths the power out to give a steady image

I also highly recommend a centrally mounted camera, so not one that is built into the license plate light.
I'm currently using one of these, it just sticks behind the license plate...

I found those parts on the US side so going to try that in a few weeks. Very helpful thank you.

Is the mic not integrated into the cables from the back of the HU? I might have missed something about the Mic connection and doesn't seem like it's picking up.

There are potentially either one or two microphones.
Normally there is only one, and this would go to the MULF or Combox in the boot. Under certain circumstances this one mic will only go to the rear of the headunit quadlock connector. In some circumstances there will be two mics, one of which goes to the MULF/Combox and one to the quadlock.
If there is two, then you can use either for the Mr12volt microphone connection.
Hope that's what you was looking for

EDIT** The Mr12volt microphone plug MUST be plugged into the 3.5mm jack on the loom and not the hole in the Mr12volt box

The one I see listed for the product page looks like the adapter below, which on my unit leads up to the display.

Yeah that second picture there is correct.
You've got the new microphone cable (left of pic) which will have a 3 pin male and female plugs on one end and a 3.5mm plug the other. This then goes into the 3.5mm socket on the new mmi y loom that has the quadlock male and female at each end.

I saw in another post that the oem mic location is under the steering column trim is that correct? The cable that led up to the display was a four pin.

The OEM microphone connector is definitely a 3 pin, and the adaptor cable supplied by Mr12volt is also a 3 pin male and female.
That 4 pin is the power and canbus for the screen control, or it looks like it is anyway.
Yes the OEM microphone is located in the upper steering cowl, with the connection plug taped to the right side under the metal support.

Wow what a pain to get access to that cable and run it by yourself. Thanks for all the help! definitely worth all the trouble.

What would be the nearest grounding point near the headunit?

Steering column, bolts that hold the centre console down, earth on cigar lighter socket

I know this is Mr 12volt thread, but to me costs to much.
I just bought Ztuzauto https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006967927417.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.4.5d091802iihq5i
Just plug in all works straight out of the box.
