Another Aberdonian enters the fray

Hi folks,

I've just picked up a '58 plate (April '08 build) Z4MC in Imola Red. Upon collection it was showing 989 miles on the odo :D So by all accounts it's virtually brand new and I'm very happy. It was a BMW Mngt car, so is suitably highly specced with black leather and 'carbon' leather dash.

My previous car was an '04 996 GT3 mkII Clubsport, but from day one it was a disastrous relationship and after five months I eventually decided to get out and buy something else. The Wee zed isn't quite as capable on the fast twisty stuff as the Porker but it's certainly not far off, which given the as new price differential, is quite some achievement. Certainly, for all round usability, the BMW is a far better car. More to the point, given that I've spent precisely two hours on track this year, the GT3 just wasn't getting used. Subsequently, the Zed will be my daily driver as well as my weekend hoon machine.

Impressions so far indicate that the car is very competent in all areas, but could perhaps do with some improvement in the steering feel and damping department. I imagine this can be rectified to some extent via the fitment of some quality coilovers, adjustable top mounts, 'bushes and a good geo setup. For now the car as it stands will do just fine though.

Very nice, I had a long look at that car but the Imola isn't for me, although the carbon leather interior is the best IMHO. Did they do the 1200 mile service early for you, just wondering because BMW charge for it now?

Yes, the 1200 service was done as part of the deal.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks.

I must say, I'm no stranger to the mark having owned five Beemers previously, four of which were //M cars.

I'm a massive fan :D

Simon,

My daughter has just started at Aberdeen Uni - any good pubs, clubs she should know about and more importantly which ones to avoid?

Cheers

A worried parent......

She should avoid the ones I frequent

Which uni is she going to; I assume Aberdeen as opposed to RGU? I would suggest that she avoids the top-end of union street but other than that there are no pubs or clubs that I would avoid specifically. If she's an Undergraduate, she'll no doubt end up in Belmont Street which is where all the Students tend to hang out.

Aberdeen is a pretty safe place to be a Student :)

Welcome along :)

There seems to be a right big gathering of Z4s up in Aberdeen now, particularly ///Ms. Good stuff.

The coupe looks stunning in Imola red. Seems to be a lot of coupes North of the border. Is it the weather putting everyone off buying roadsters? :)
