Anglesey B&B recommendations

Hello,

Does anyone here have any good B&B, Pub and restaurant recommendations for Anglesey and Betws-y-Coed?

I've got a track day in September, renting a Caterham so I'll be driving up in the M Coupe.

My plan is to drive up on Thursday, stop in B&B #1 near the track. Then after the track on Friday leave for Betws-y-Coed and find B&B #2.
Saturday get up and thrash the Coupe around the evo Triangle, get lunch then leave for a stop Sunday night nearer towards the South East in B&B #3 (Perhaps Telford area).

Anyone got any little gems they know about in those areas? I noticed Mmm-five has recently been to Anglesey.

I recently stayed (with some trepidation!) at Hotel Cymyran near the track. It was absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to go back.

In Betws-y-Coed, we stayed at the Royal Oak. It was also pretty good, but personally, I'd rather spend two nights at the Cymyran. :wink:

I just camp at the circuit with a lot of the other marshals, as it lets me drink with the team until 2am and then just roll into bed.

There are a few B&Bs in the area, but it's peak season and most are either full or expensive.

If you don't mind a 20-30 minute drive, you can stay at a Premier Inn or Travelodge in Holyhead or Bangor for about £55/night.

Otherwise the tourist board and the visitbritain website can give you some ideas.

I'm really, really looking forward to it. Long drive up in the Coupe, spend all day thrashing (someone else's) Caterham round a track I've been wanting to do for ages. No fuel / tyre bills, Evo triangle, a weekend's worth of pub dinners, a walk in the hills and then drive home!

The track day is two different tracks too! International in the morning then National in the afternoon. And I normally don't get to do much overtaking at track days (Mx5) unless someone's a terrible driver.... That should change in the Superlights.

There must be something else on on the Club circuit that afternoon, otherwise you'd be doing the (best IMHO) configuration which is Coastal.

The Tom Pryce straight & hairpin just add length to the circuit, but cut off the wonderful Corkscrew section :thumbsdown:

Where did you go off? There's quite a lot of run-off on the new circuit so you must have really fooked it up

BTW, this is what happens when you try to mate with another Legend car on the 'back straight' from Church to School.

wasnt at anglesey - was at rockingham

touched the tyre wall nose end in at just 5-10mph, unfortunately that was enough to push and break the rad and nose cone. They hadnt any spares

Bull inn at Llangefni is pretty good, try and get a room in the court yard. Theres a damn good curry house near by as well. About quarter of an hour from the track, have to say since its been extended this has become a cracking track to drive, be careful of the final corner going into the start / finish straight, too much power and you can loose the back end and then

I've booked up the Prince Llewelyn in Ty Croes becuase we'll get there late and be up at the crack of dawn. Next day is a B&B near Betws. Cheers for the curry tip off, that might make the plans for Friday evening.

Can't wait to try Anglesey, annoyingly it's about the only track I can't find on GTR2. I'll have to put up with youtube.

Whatever you do, if you start to spin wide onto the start/finish straight, then let it drift wide rather than trying to fight it, as otherwise you'll end up in the pit wall which is a lot harder than the grass on the infield

It's a very wide, very smooth track and there's plenty of grip. Overtaking should be easy enough (by consent of course) as there are a couple of good straight/kinked bits where there are lots of space to do so safely.
