Hi.

I started to cut one headlight . I thought it will be the best to clarify the cutting process with a lot of pictures.
Here it is :

And what about this one?

You should really be cutting in the groove where the clear plastic meets the black plastic.

Bit late now  i'm sure it'll be fine though, just use a lot of sealant.

Are you using 2 sets of lights or are you gluing the lens back on? If your putting the same set back together then I have a much better method if you're interested?

I am interested

I used a gasket scraper as I found it most suitable, start at the bottom of the headlight and poke the edge of the gasket scraper in the edge between where the black and clear plastics meet. Once you get the scraper under. Push it along to cut the glue underneath. Then use the scraper to fold the black plastic back until it cracks. It will always crack in the right place.20131201_144120_zpsd4183309.jpg

then just run the scraper around to break that outer edge off completely until you have done it all the way round the headlight.
it should look like this

then you need to get the scraper under the edge of the lens to cut the rest of the glue away

once you've done that all the way round the lens will separate and because you only cut the outer lip off the headlight casing you still have the inner lip to glue the lens back on.

I have 2 pair of headlights.

Interesting method.

Is RVT black silicon a good sealant?

But if you cut the headlight ... what do you do with this one?

If it gets in your way cut it off lol. So on that set your sacrificing a lens and on the other set you'll sacrifice the headlight casing and make a pair out of the lot? I used normal black silicone on mine and it's plently strong enough. No need for pu adhesives like I've used in the past like tigerseal. Really not necessary I've have found.

What are you doing to yours exactly? I decided to transform mine while they were open

The other pair i have is black inside. I will cut them open and fit angel eyes. I think i will connect the angel eyes to the sidelights. I dont want to go with harness route. If im connecting both angel rings to the sidelight ... do i get any warning dashboard light?

The silver one in the picture .. i did it as a test. but i will paint both black and make another pair of angel eyes z4 headlights ... and sell them maybe.

It seems that is not so easy to find clear hockey sticks.

Any method to tint them black? Is it legal? ... i can leave them orange because with black inside and angel eyes on it doesnt look so bad.

What do you think?

I tinted mine but mine were clear to begin with so took much less tint to darken them. It would take much more tint to hide the orange and you would still see some orange through it I'd imagine. What could be an option is the mirror tint film I bet that would work really well.

I wired my halos to the sidelight but the sidelight bulb is still there and working but mine are facelift bixenons so the sidelight bulb is used to light a crappy dull yellow halo so the new halos make the light from the bulb invisible.
You would probably have to use a resistor to avoid the warning light.

I dont have the facelift headlights.

I ordered the 93 cob let angel eyes rings. 12 V.

Do i need resistor for led 12 V?

What kind of resistor? Can you show me?

I think you will need resistors yes but I've never used any myself but I know others on the forum have so maybe they could point you in the right direction. I'd try typing sidelight resistors in ebay see what comes up.

Guys

do i need any type of resistors for 93 cob angel eyes led rings so i can avoid that dashboard light error?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251358613038?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I see that they have some sort of resistors inline.

Can anyone tell me how to put resistors for AE?

I will cut the sidebulb wires and connect them to the resistor and then attach both AE rings to the resistor right?

Or do i need one resistor for each ring?

How do i connect both rings to the sidelight? It will be 2 + wires connected to the sidebulb + and 2 - wires connected to the sidebulb minus? or should i do it different?

like I said earlier... this is all in the angel / clear indicator thread...
