Angel eyes -- cutting process

Thank you. I am not lazy to read. but i cannot find the wiring for the resistor and the angel eyes.

people mention that i need a resistor or coding to get rid of the warning light but no wiring help is there.

that is why i asked how should i do the wiring?

should i just cut the sidebulb wires and put the resistor in parallel with the led rings ?

Thanks

Can anyone tell me how to put resistors for AE?

I will cut the sidebulb wires and connect them to the resistor and then attach both AE rings to the resistor right?

Or do i need one resistor for each ring?

How do i connect both rings to the sidelight? It will be 2 + wires connected to the sidebulb + and 2 - wires connected to the sidebulb minus? or should i do it different?

like I said earlier... this is all in the angel / clear indicator thread...
I understand the frustration with repeat threads but the ae thread is well over 100 pages and is very difficult to find the info needed you must admit!

nice pics,

the problem with some of those threads ranski is they are so filled with "Nice on" and the like they are really long to follow. cj10jeepers thread is 74 pages long. i bet if that was edited to include just the methodology and some background it would be 1 page long.

Sure, but some of the members that hold certain information have left or cannot be bothered (like me) retyping out the same content because someone cannot be arsed spending a little more time reading a thread

Ranski ok .. maybe it is my mistake.

Can you show me where is the wiring info for the resistors?

I searched all pages and i couldnt find it.

i am just trying to understand if i should place the resistor in parallel.

For example this one

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/300593415079?nav=SEARCH

it seems that i should cut the side bulb wires connect them to this resistor and then connect both rings. Am i right?

this is the wiring for the resistor in case others need to see it.

http://www.matstrad.com/resistors_tech.php

i will do a complete guide myself when im done.

Thanks

thats fine, no one is forcing you to answer a thread. you cant be bothered to answer just the same as some one cant be arsed to wade through many pages of comments. there is no need to have a go at an op asking a simple question tho.

having a go? more so just putting across an idea in keeping all content about a specific mod (whether be a question or answer) in one place.

No worries...

so basically you didnt want to help at all.. you just posted to play smart :) what can i say .. this can be a hobby too :)

yes, spot on, you're completely correct... It's the only reason why I've spent the past 4 years dibbing in and out of this forum

you're one clever chap

What would be useful is a thread edit, I don't think the mods would have the time to go through that thread but would be ideal if all the useful info was summarised in detail with all the pics together. Theres always going to be slight differences with new techniques and new ideas that are going to be added, then they need putting with the rest of the useful info.

yep, good call

a team of moderators that have lesser access than admins, but can carry out the above

ohh i got it .. you're a veteran. you're my grandpa now.

shame on me to ask silly questions ... next time i will ask in private for permission :)

I will do a complete guide from start to finish including products i bought, wiring , etc :) ... in the next couple of weeks

looking at that ebay ad i would say these already have the ballast resistors needed to make these run. im guessing they are in the little black thing on the wiring. im also guessing from the fact you can run them on a 12-24V signal the little black thing is a constant current drive so they will have consistent light. (basically just a voltage regulator and resistor).

As far as the car wiring goes i have no idea about the warning lights and recoding sorry. was your plan to have these as the side lights an do away with the bulb in the holder?

i would be considering using sika flex to re stick the lights back together but once its stuck sika is a PITA to get off...

definitely don't need sikaflex it's absolute overkill. I used to use those sort of adhesives for headlights but with the z4 I've used nirmal black silicone. I've also reopened one twice and it was stuck very well. No way of reopening it without using the same tools as the first time.

Are the LED rings the same ones I posted a link to on a couple of other threads? If so then I have the same ones and I'll test mine to see if you need resistors :)

I've just checked your link and apart from the colour of the wire they look identical. 20131104_162043_zpsd93f9051.jpg20131104_162617_zps06d3f29e.jpg
I'll disconnect a sidelight bulb at some point and let you know if the bulb warning light comes on although it may be a few days.
