Yeah I'll let you know.Nictrix said:Looks good.
You will have to let us know all the things it can do out the box without buying extras and exactly what you had to buy to get what you have.
Fitting the iDrive controller is straight forward, you simply remove the little box that's there now and replace it.Frankie169 said:Following this post with great interest as I’m sure most are!!! Look forward to seeing the video and knowing more about the install and fitting the Idrive control unit
And finally how good the sat nav function is or do you use apple maps via car play?

I've got some figures from them, but I need to do some maths. I've also asked if there is a discount for the iDrive controller.Deepseaskateboard said:AnubisZed said:I'm potentially thinking of doing a group buy, if I can get enough interest
Sounds like a plan.
Whats the ballpark cost?
As in red.sunnydays said:This looks good, couple of questions though
Do you have to already have I drive for this to install? No this can be either a replacement for your existing iDrive screen to add additional features to what you already have, or to a non-iDrive Professional radio to add more functionality, you can even add the iDrive controller
Can you install native android applications such as MHD? I cannot confirm this, sorry
And can this be connected to the car's OBD II or linked via the canbus? You can connect Torque to the OBD, but it only supports a Wi-Fi version and NOT Bluetooth
It does, but alas the speedo is in kph and not mph and is not changeableJollyjoiner said:This looks a tidy unit. Will be good to see videos of it working, I especially like the dash feature, does that have revs and speed ?
Should you decide to go along this road I would be really interested. I bought the the dash cam you recommended and am really pleased with it. Looking at this thread you have certainly stirred up some interest among those of us without iDrive. Just don’t have too many more ideas for improvement. My bank balance won’t cope!AnubisZed said:I'm potentially thinking of doing a group buy, if I can get enough interest

What else are you missing?
I'm undertaking retrofitting auto dimming interior mirror and auto lights/wipers next
oh as well as a reversing camera and aftermarket parking sensors for this Android screen.

There are a couple of squeaks at the moment, not sure if that's because of the screen or because I've removed and replaced panels.enzed4 said:Dash display looks good. Do you know if it sits tight in the mounting, or rattles/squeaks like most of the rest of the panels in the Z4? (I'm looking at you, sun visors :x ).
Also, is there an easy way to blank the screen, same effect as folding down the OEM screen, to stop it distracting you at night?
And finally, how's the glare/reflections on the screen during the day? I'm guessing you haven't had much time to actually field test it yet, so that will be more of an observation after using it for a while perhaps.
Really like what you've done with this, and for sharing your findings/observations here. Cheers![]()
