I know it's not original but I really wanted a screen with android auto and DAB, will now wait to be slated lol1000038649.jpg

Nice, did you have to rewire all of the speakers?
Ive been considering something like that However it blocks the HVAC vents.
I also thought about this one. They missed the ball just a bit. It needs wireless charging and wireless connection.

There is also the top of the dash android version. But its probably Chinese quality and might require modification of the dash. But it uses the stock stereo so no rewiring the speakers and amp. I wonder if it blocks your view?

then there is the double DIN conversion but the vents aren't adjustable.

the cheap Bluetooth modules on amazon do lack bass when streaming.

SO many choices but they all have a drawback.

To each their own. If we all had the same tastes the world would be a boring place :)

I am planning to do a similar change. I considered the in dash option but didnt want to cut into the dashboard. The models with a screen that disappears into the head unit seem the least disruptive to the overall look for me. I am planning one to have access to DAB but also satnav. I believe with a lot of the units they can still play music with the screen retracted which would free up the air vents.
Also as someone has mentioned before the cabin is such a small place that the air flow should be fine. The air can flow around the back of the screen and you also have windscreen, footwell and side vents.

I got a professional to fit it with a proper wiring adaptor, he had no problems and all speakers work fine, in fact it's a better sound that the original

I did a thing.
It’s CarPlay, but works with android auto as well. Overall I’m quite happy with the results!

That looks very professional. I havent used Carplay, does the unit do satnav by connecting and using the phones satnav? I like the way it can be removed so neatly. A cool mod like that would make a great how to posting if anyone else wanted to follow in your footsteps :)

Thanks, I wanted it to look as ‘original’ as I could get away with, while maintaining removability.
Most of what I did is explained in the post I linked hopefully. Don’t feel like opening everything up again to take more pictures 😃

I agree. Its just so hot here in the summer (todays heat index is 100- 105f) so I like the AC vents blowing directly on me when Im stopped. They extend the amount of days I can have the top down. :driving:.

What was the original system? I have the carver system with the amp and I heard it all has to be rewired. If I have to do that there may be a couple of amps that go in at the same time

There are a bunch of discussions on these forums about sound setups and the carver system. I remember reading months back when I first started looking into this but cant remember where. You should be able to find them with a search fairly easily. As I recall, having the fancier sound systems like the carver does complicate things somewhat when trying to alter your sound system. Others on here would be able to give better details.
