Amazon Fire TV

Thanks,had worked out the quality elements, but still struggling with surround sound.

Managed to get all speakers playing the same noise, very weird, sort of 5 speaker stereo.

If I can't solve it tonight, it will go in the bedroom as a netflix source as don't have the time to mess about too much.

That's pretty handy to have when the deaf relative comes round. Just sit them next to or between speakers and jobs a good one, they can hear your telly easily.

Really interested in this as SKY came round yesterday to put up my new dish, but can't get line of site, so cancelled contract and looking at other options. Would this allow for streaming of live sport and other sky TV channels?

Everything... but I would suggest you get the Ethernet version instead of WiFi Fire Stick if you plan to have this as your primary content provider

Can't watch a film in just stereo, seems such a waste!

I had this when I installed Kodi on my HTPC. Got it working in the end but can't remember the settings. I'll have a look when I get home.

It can, but it's a long way off as a replacement for a SKY box. Can you get Virgin round your way?
 
Excuse my ignorance here, but will i still need to have an amazon prime subscription with this. Or can i buy the Fire TV stick, 'tweak it', then be able to watch amazon content. Basically will i need the subscription for the new Top Gear still or is it likely to be available from another source using the tweaked device?

with a 'tweaked' stick you can watch legal amazon content aswell as 'other' content

Looks like i shall be heading to Argos later too to also spend my free £10 voucher and see what wonders it has to offer...
 
I bought the Amazon TV in the end on Cyber monday, not the stick as I can not use that (I have a Panasonic Prof series plasma so no USB option there).

Don't have enough time to watch the legal content, let alone the illegal one so won't be hacking it. Just ready for some prime films and the new Top Gear (or whatever it will be called).
 
Should be good for sporting events though which are otherwise unobtainable through the 'normal' channels.

Plus i am off now until the new year so will give me something to do over xmas.

I hate myself for being off too. Didn't realise i had 10 days to take in Dec or i would lose it. Have been working 4 day weeks since the start and today is my last day. Whilst it sounds great having so much time off, im also very annoyed with myself i didn't take it in the summer :x

I have to admit that after installing it, I have not used it since. Not seeing the benefit of the music streaming, I have Spotify as well, but everything I tried on Amazon Prime I would have to pay for first.
