Pvr, speak to hutch, apparently he's got kodi on raspberry pi2 not yet used iy, as off mid week

Anybody but srhutch  it means it will be 2020 by the time he has got it working ....

I will have a play with one to see what it does.
If you do get it working via pi could you let us know as I have a spare pi2, an my Samsung smart TV doesn't have kodi in its app store,
Have been told some new Sony smart TV's have access to full Google app store so kodi is available

My concern is virgin already block many sites including ice films, if they add 1 channel, then am i out of luck streaming? I don't want to pay for a VPN if I can avoid it.

We have Kodi on a tablet and stream it through Chromecast onto the TV.
I dont know the ins and outs of how it works as Nicki set it up.

Sky block 1channel. I just use a proxy, currently primewire.is or primewire.org

Great, thank you.

Ordered one as cheap currently due to BF & if it doesn't do what I want, I can use it for netflix & prime in the bedroom. Annoyingly being in Mexico currently (no sympathy, I know!), was annoyed that the US price for the fire stick was $25

Just hoping it works when I plug it into my amp rather than the tv directly as everything runs off the HDMI on the amp.

Matt

I guess if you don't have the tech know how, or cant be arsed you could order one via ebay

I'd seen those, but for the extra £40 it doesn't seem that difficult, only sourcing the correct links when they change.

Think virgin might be my biggest headache

Got the firestick, installed kodi etc, now need to work out the streaming, unfortunately virgin seem to block everything. Need to research VPN but currently all gibberish to me so far, any knowledge on how to set this up correctly? I can get to primewire.org, but on the laptop it wants me to register, us this correct?

Thanks

If you search for "the beast" or "Chris b wizard" on YouTube, he does a tutorial on there on how to set it all up. You can download his "tv build" and once loaded it has all the preloaded best sites and a slick looking menu, saving you needing to add all the channels. I'm on virgin and all the latest films are avialable and working. The streams can be hit and miss but with a number of streaming options you can usually find what your after.

Brilliant, thank you Dan. I will have a search tonight & get myself set up.

Great to know you are with virgin also, seemed to be a bit of a lost cause reading up & researching but evidently looking in the wrong places!

So essentially, you can buy a "clean" stick and then experiment with this "beast" install using the videos - without having to buy an "infected" stick to begin with off ebay :) :poke:

Lol. Yes, the difference being that the fire stick was available for £25 on BF and doing the install yourself costs nothing and takes 10 minutes. Or as you say, pay £40 extra for someone else to do it for you.

In the 1channel setup for kodi you need to manually change the domain to primewire.org
I've been getting some buffering lag with some films so have also been using the genesis add on that searches multiple sources for the best stream.

Cheers. Mine will cost the same as I got a ten quid voucher for Argos from 02 priority. !

Got it all set up and working using the beast (thanks Dan!), which uses the genesis add-on. Not sure if this has the 1channel tweak, but certainly has all the latest films.

Surprised how many recent films have chinese/oriental subtitles, wasn't expecting that to be honest. Need to work out if I can be bothered to put up with it. Also cannot get Dolby digital when streaming with kodi, it's certainly working with netflix. Tried setting 5.1 speakers, bypass, dd, dts but still no joy. Can't watch a film in just stereo, seems such a waste!

The films that haven't come out in dvd yet seem to be cinema recordings as the quality is poor. All dvd released films seem good quality, although it is worth experimenting with the different streams for each film on the beast as some have subtitles but mostly there will be others without.

Just read the suffix in the title for information on the quality

The CAM suffix will mean it's a camera positioned in a cinema. Then you have LQ, HQ, HD, 720 and 1080
