Amazon bargain springs!!!!

Its probably to be expected, car lives outside, 90k miles, i imagine every bolt is pretty solid.

True. When are you going to get them done?

I'll pay the full price when the wishbones, droplinks, bushes etc get swapped. £490 labour to fit everything, supply arb bushes and alignment. Ouch, but it should feel like new. Its currenty loose and hearing a few knocks on bumps. Front bushes and joints seem to be slacker than katie price.

So, I think these springs sit just a little too low. I've been driving around today and had a good look inside the front arch and there is minimal distance between the tyre and the edge of the front arch. I heard a tiny rub this afternoon and had a good look at what the culprit was. :headbang:
Took the front spacer off to see if that would make a difference... Nope!

Picture without the spacer on...

Show how small that gap is...

Is there anything I can try to rectify this? (not simply change back to stock!) if there is something... Great.

Anyone else having this issue?

£25 springs that will cause £100's of damage - I would get those off asap

Updated shockers will help (but not solve) the issue. Slower damping for a slower bounce will help to reduce the number of times it bottoms out.

Of course this increases the cost and stiffens the ride even more

Hmm. This is making me think. My car is fitted with Eibachs. I can't feel any rubbing but both front inner wheel arches are cracked. I'm now wondering whether someone had fitted larger wheels and/or spacers at some point before I got the car... especially as it was running manky chewed daisies when I bought it

I've seen 19s (VMRs) on a zed, with Eibachs. Apparently only rubs on really big bumps

My previous z4 had 19" LMs and H&R springs. I never noticed rubbing, but it did sit low and needed to take bumps slowly.

As far as i see there, its not causing any damage. It will only cause damage if hitting bumps hard...?

I'm taking mine into the garage, hopefully tomorrow. Really not sure if i should fit them or not now. Hmmm.

Are you thinking of removing them? When did rubbing occur?

I'm running 18" MV 2's and not had any problems with anything rubbing, but will monitor as I put more miles on.
Just checked the drop and it is 30mm, believe yours dropped 35mm Luke?

The missus took it shopping today and she loves the lower look also says she can't tell any difference in the ride?

It doesn't look like there is any damage that has been caused on the wheel arch just a rubng noise. Didn't do it over small bumps or shallow dips, only when rolling dips appeared that I heard the rubbing. I would imaging it would start to crack it over hard bumps.

Not sure what to do with them :( the car looks fantastic! The ride... Haven't noticed a massive difference with it TBH. It does feel a little tighter but not overly (which i like cos it's not become harsh). I have taken the front spacers off and will see on my drive to work tomorrow if it makes much of a difference
The rears sit fine with perfect amount of clearance. Very happy with rears, just the fronts.
Will report back in the morning if it's made any difference . The only other thing i could thnk of is to undo the arch liner and instead of being mounted on the bottom of the arch lip, to move it to the top? May be clutching at straws here :?

Yes drop said it was a 35mm on the paperwork. Haven't measured though. That would of been an area

I will take the wheels off again tomorrow at work and have a good look under to see what's what.

My previous car sat about as low, if not lower:

That's not low, its just french sh*t :fuelfire:

My point was, others seem to have the Z4 low without issue. Is it the damper that's the problem, allowing it to drop to hard on bumps? Coilovers etc allow you to go low without this issue, so I can only imagine its due to the damper rate.

Sorry mate, that came across wrong

Yes, it's tha damper rate that causes issues. Uprated shocks with slower compression and rebound rates are needed to reduce the travel.

Only thing i can think of to stretch the front tyres?

i did this on a few cars before and had no issue with them. thinking for these to run 205/35/18 maybe even go for a 195/35/18. at the min i have 225s
