For part numbers for the BMW light fittings I got this from Realoem:

Thanks! They look good.

If I had these, I could see my pedals day or night!
So a worth while mod! Haha

Yep I park in dark garage and before if I dropped something on the floor I couldn't see nothing, so much better now. To be honest on a car of this cost when new BMW should fit these free without expecting people to pay extra. Greedy lot these German car makers.

check Pedal Haus, they are a US company that ships to the UK have a set of their pedals on my 28i

I am looking on the Pedal Haus website but they aren't showing anything for the E89 in RHD, they are only listing for LHD. Is your car LHD?

Something that is annoying me is the height difference between the brake pedal (manual gearbox) and accelerator pedal and was thinking of adding an aluminium pedal cover to the accelerator in order to reduce the height difference. How thick is the aluminium and would there be any issues with slipping a shaped slice of plastic or metal between the pedal and aluminium cover to build it up a bit further? If it’s all screwed down solid it should be ok shouldn’t it?

I was thinking that too but going buy the picture mid rhs there’s a speaker grill so think it is a rhd??

Not sure I’m keen on the style of pedal right enough, much prefer the look of the BMW part

Yes you are right so it's odd that on their website it only lists for the LHD version and even when you click on that nothing shows. They do them in silver rather then black and they look much better but I agree the original BMW ones are better, at least they are to me. Saying that I came across pics of pedal set by 3D design and they look pretty good but knowing 3D they will probably be something stupid like 1000 quid!

Ok, so had a look at the 3D ones and they linked to suppliers, MStyle came up as UK. When I went through to MStyle’s own sire no listing for 3D ones, but.............. they are listing ones very similar to BMW ones but more importantly a matching dead pedal which lists compatibility with the E89. Both items together are cheaper than BMW 3 pedal set

Those look good and not expensive either plus a dead pedal! I wonder what the quality is like. :?

No, not too expensive and the dead pedal. Quality wise, no idea but you can let me know after you buy them

I was actually thinking of still buying the BMW ones and this dead pedal but haven’t got round to checking the pattern yet to see if they match/are similar enough

  I think you can buy them first and let me know   but actually your idea of just getting the dead pedal isn't bad. There are photos of the BMW ones in one of the post above, I don't think they are the same but I don't think it will look totally bad.

For info.
I bought a three pedal set on eBay that looks identical to MStyle however:
  • There was no template for the holes
  • The link to the fitting instructions didn’t work
  • The holes in the rubber backing didn’t exactly line up with the holes in the metal part
  • I drilled one hole in my accelerator pedal as a test using the metal part as a template but it turned out that the moulding at the back of the pedal prevented me from getting a nut on the back.
  • The supplied bolts are not long enough to reach all the way through the pedal for the bottom left hole.
  • I can’t see that it is possible to fit the bottom right bolt at all

Do the genuine BMW pedal covers fit without bother?

I had no problem fitting the genuine BMW ones (see pics of e89 with red / aluminium interior on page 1).

Came with template, bolts etc and all fitted correctly. Sometimes it’s worth paying extra.

Involves drilling, but if I can put them on, anyone can!

So I managed to get the accelerator cover on but it was hardly 'plug and play'.

It is much easier to do if you remove the pedal from the car and it turns out that is quite simple - pop off the plastic cover for the T30 bolt at the bottom of the unit and once you have disconnected the wiring you can do the job on your work bench.

IMG_3615_edited-2.jpg

The shape isn't quite right as you can see if you line up the top and bottom but once completed and on the car I doesn't really show.

IMG_3622_edited-2.jpg

Because the shape of this budget pedal cover isn't perfect for an E89, while I could get a nut on one bolt with a bit of careful trimming the other top bolt is just screwed into the plastic itself; I did manage to find the right sized tap and cut a thread.

IMG_3635_edited-2.jpg

At the bottom there's room for the bolt but it's not long enough to get a nut on; again I cut a thread and screwed into the plastic. On the other side at the bottom you can't get to the back so I drilled a short blind hole and cut the bolt short to fit.

IMG_3636_edited-2.jpg

Pedal back in place. Everything works and you can barely notice the cover is slightly skewed.

IMG_3638_edited-2.jpg

Genuine BMW ones might have been easier to fit but they are three times the price - overall I'm quite happy.
