Well, luckily not my house, but my garage was done over on saturday night.
They broke both security lights, and basically heaved the wooden garage doors of their hinges to get in. They also used bolt cutters on the gate lock.
I lost a huge amount of snap-on tools, a whole set of air tools, a spare set of alloys, and all the paperwork for my Dodge
They also helped themselves to the jetwash and car polisher from the "garden box".
Finally, they royally fucked up the framework of my patio door, obviously trying to get in, before giving up and leaving.
Luckily, they didn't even touch my car or the girlfriends Corrado, both of which were sat on the grass next to the driveway.
The Police were less than helpful, insofar as them saying "It's becoming quite common" and "we'll send someone round from victim support to chat with you."
Didn't even have the decency to send a bobby round to have a gander - they just want me to bring a list of what was taken and any other information I think is relevent to the station
at my convenience to fill out a detailed crime report.
Worst bit? House insurance are demanding proof of purchase for everything over a tenner that was nicked... and most of that stuff I've had since I was 18 - over a decade ago.
No proof - no payout.
I can feel a massive arguement coming on with them next.
