Hi can anyone give me some info on removing the steering wheel, is it a simple disconnect battery and then prise of the air bag or is there more to it any info much appreciated

Don't prise it off
If you feel the back of the spokes you should find a hole that I believe has a torx head in it

Nearly, you need a flat bladed screwdriver to push into the holes either side to press the spring clip in to release the airbag. You can do one at a time.

Hold the screwdriver so the tip is horizontal, as the spring is a vertical lever in effect.

Thanks steve

As above except it always seems to be a right bugger to get it to come off. Don’t forget the connectors under the airbag before you remove the steering wheel

Push flathead screwdriver in top hole marked and push spring loaded as marked best to disconnect battery for 30 mins just in case airbag deployment best to be safe

Thanks for the help just checked Markplant was the correct one

Not unless they changed the design. Or you have a non standard wheel fitted. I would double check that because the flat screw driver method is the way to get the air bag off on these cars, as far as I know :|

Guessing the OP has just decided to remove the spoke covers then, leav8ng the airbag in place.

Thought he was removing steering wheel not the plastics?? Removing the plastics will not remove the wheel !!!! Very confused now 🥴

I watched the video on YouTube about removing the wheel on a z4 but my car hasn’t got the holes either side of the wheel too put the screwdriver in but it has the screws on the back of the spokes ...I’ve got a bloody headache

Apologies found the holes we are not all perfect

Listen to the forum boy :poke:
If you look at Kev's photo, you can see the spring that clamps the bag onto the hub. You need to get the flat blade at the correct angle and push in while pulling at that side of the airbag.
They do come off
