I'm being fussy I know, but the silver car description claims 500 produced worldwide, not true. Although Alpina has never officially published total production, #369 appears to be the last one.

Over on Alpina-Archive, they quote a production run of 373 and as Kees, the person that runs the site, has access to factory documentation including the build sheets for all the cars, I'd be inclined to accept his figure as being accurate unless someone has access to more accurate data

Certainly closer to a real number than 500, thanks for sharing.

Yup, Kees is the numbers man :D A lot of the description of #311 is wide of the mark and best ignored.

The service history of #264 can be described best by this extract from the report we had done on it on 9th August 2012...'The car is showing just over 23,800 miles but has no service history whatsoever. there is no service documents, nor Owner's manuals, Alpina or BMW. There is an NMR (National mileage Register) report prepared in Aug 2008 for Dick Lovett, Swindon stating a mileage of 13,462. The dash clocks indicate an Oil service is due' I have a recollection that there is record of a service being performed by DL when it was sold by them at 13,462 miles or thereabouts. Other than that: nothing. i checked with ALPINA UK, and they have no history for the car whatsoever other than that stated.

IIRC, the number doesn't relate to the model, just the Alpina production number. There are 167 RHD models or the roadster S for the UK.

Not quite right, Stu. Each model has a production number starting from #001. I own D3BT #097, and I have driven Roadster S #097 and almost bought it  It was almost a perfect fit 8)

Consequently for, say, the E9x range of ALPINA, there is in theory an E90 B3BT #001, an E91 B3BT #001, an E92 B3BT #001 and an E93 B3BT #001

Now at £12,699...some reduction on its original asking of £14,999 in early summer. No takers so far...wonder why :headbang:

With no history, that's an 11k car at best. The one downside on Alpinas is if something mechanical goes bang you'll be in M territory invoiceland

Finding the history is only going to take a little phoning aroung though. Once thats done the book can be stamped retrospectively. Wouldnt worry me too much for a decent priced car that checked out mechanically.

Maybe if it's been dealer serviced it'll have records on their network, but if it's been indie maintained, I guess it's an unknown. I guess if you had it properly inspected and were prepared to take a risk there's a chance of a bargain...

I'd also try and contact previous owners. Still very tempted by an Alpina.
