Alpina 2.2 - does it exist?

Leeds - you know where it is
Fairly sure I know the answer to this but bear with me. Dad reckons he’s spotted a Z4 2.2 Alpina roadster. I’m thinking they were all 3.4 litre cars… could he be confused? Could I ? Could it be a Z3 or something?
Grateful for your thoughts

I'm sure the only Z4 Alpina made was the Roadster S with a 3.4 litre enlarged S52 engine.

He's probably seen a 2.2i with some Alpina bits attached!

That's the most likely scenario - there have been a couple of 'normal' cars that have had the Alpina bodykit fitted.

All 370 Alpina Roadster S' have a hand-built 3.4L engine based on the S52B32. If it had a Z4 badge on it, it's a bit of a giveaway as the RS' do not have one.

There was no Alpina version of the Z3, although they did produce 73 Z1-based cars and 555 Z8-based cars
