All good, except...

Most people complain of metallic twanging sounds or rattles from the back of the car. I had an oil service and change of pads done not long after I bought mine and one was found to be broken. I didn't experience any real symptoms, but I hadn't had the car long so I wasn't familiar with how it handles. You can inspect the rear springs by taking of the rear wheels if you're worried.
If they fail under warranty BMW will replace them, sometimes they will even without warranty as an act of good will. Aftermarket springs are an alternative option if you're paying yourself.
This forum is a mine of useful information as you will soon come to realise  ... Just try to avoid being caught up by the desire to modify after reading what's possible with our cars...

ps you should definitely get a stubby though if you haven't already :)

Thanks for all that :). Yeah I've already found out quite a bit, especially about adding cruise control to mine...which I feel I really need :). Apart from that I agree it's very tempting to add bits to the car, but for now I'm content with leaving it standard.

Yeah I do think I'll get one...any recommendations on where to get a stubby?

It's actually not the seat back, it's the base. I'm pretty sure it's whatever is under the leather. Never heard of it before tbh, I would had thought they were made slightly better! I just hope it's covered under warranty.

I found the thread (no pun intended) I did on my seat problems. Sounds like yours is on a different part of the seat but hopefully you'll get the same positive outcome.

Thanks for finding that, you're right about it not being the same thing but an interesting read. I would pull apart the seat a bit to try and find it, but I'm afraid of making it worse.

I've had the whole "trim" excuse before, really grinds my gears that does. Here's hoping they don't come up with that old chestnut this time! :P

Just a quick update on this -

Got the car back yesterday. Service done (I originally posted it was an inspection, but it was actually an oil service.) for £240. Not bad!

Emissions light - fixed. New O2 sensor. Car feels like new again, it showed me just how bad it was when pulling off the line, the response from the throttle is now immediate, and mid range power is definitely better. Best of all though, the light has gone! :P

Seat - not fixed. 3 different technicians couldn't find the fault. To be fair they must think I'm crazy. It seems it only happens when it's warm inside the car, or after you've been sitting inside for a little bit...definitely still there, and definitely still annoying. This is going to be an ongoing issue I feel.

Anyway, happy with the service I received from Douglas Park (Glasgow) as always, very professional.
