Sorry, I can't find anything already posted on here so have started new topic.
With no warning all windows and mirrors refuse to operate from either door switches or door handles. Master control panel is drivers arm rest is dry and clean.
No error codes
Red car up on Jack shows in dash.
Haven't yet got to fuses despite scraping knuckles!
Battery okay.

Any ideas please?

Cheers

What happens if you try to lower the roof?
I wonder if perhaps the car doesn't know what position the roof is in?

Thanks, but I am not brave/naive enough to try that as this is currently my daily commuter.
If my roof jams open the car is undrivable.
And would that affect mirrors?

Nope!
I missed the mirrors bit. Sorry.

I have just driven home with no indicators, main beam, hazards, interior lighting. And the red warning in dash of car up on ramp.
Why has the code reader not got error codes?

Hi Peter,

The EEPROM was corrupted on the module.

I have repaired this. Should be a plug and play install for you from here😊

Hope this is OK

Thanks B21, so what do I need to do? Can you point me in the right direction please?

What does the fault code reader say when you ask to talk to the FRM?

FRM corrupt…95% probability :tumbleweed:
100% FRM: no comms 'n darkness

Cheers for confirmation.
I have searched for removal of FRM, but no luck. Can someone kindly direct me to instructions to identify and remove this module so I can send it off ASAP please?

It's placed below the steering wheel on the right.

@B21 et all
Same here in Germany, this elder FRM generation is dying like mayflies. I've been live on a Z4 reading fault codes, while it's FRM died. Unbeleivable, just by reading!

Does anybody know exactly, how this has to be repaired?

How, by yourself?

Can it be replaced by a used/working spare part and do I have to backup it's coding configuration in time?

Try and get the car warm before trying to remove the FRM…it’s got 3 big connectors , very tight bends…bitch when all the cables are cold..especially when trying to refit it..

Good advice as it is 4⁰C today.

Does anyone know if the car can be safely driven with module removed? My neighbour has scaffolding going up and down so I don't want my car damaged.

It may or may not work..in my case the windows wouldn’t drop…doors couldn’t fully close as soon as I tried to drive off (DCT) it would put the car in Park..my instrument cluster didn’t work…amongst many other things

Quick update.

RobbiZ4 's instructions were very helpful to remove module (third connector was a bit awkward, really wanted another hand). Unit looked dry. Wrapped in ESD bag and packaged. Used DPD with £500 insurance for £35 (cannot imagine stress if it is lost or damaged), which is nearly as much as repair by DJWW.
What concerns me is quite why it suddenly failed, and when it will fail again. I did charge battery directly in boot a month ago, I will use bonnet connections in future, but have done nothing else out of the ordinary.
Hopefully just a simple reset
