alignment

Hi,

I checked on the forum and many Z4 owners have managed to get their cars aligned at their tyre places. I tried 4 and all of them wouldn't touch the car - at least they were honest as they had not done a Z4 and didn't want to mess it up. BMW charge £140, which I thought was a bit steep, hence I wanted to find an alternative. I found one place which had the John Bean 3D alignment. I have an 03 Z4 roadster, but they didn't have an 03 on the system, but an 06 M roadster which they said was closest to mine. They then went ahead and tweaked the alignment to those settings, but the car is veering to the left when I drive (which was why I took it to them in the first place).

Anyone had any issues with the John Bean alignment system, and does anyone know of someone other than BMW doing the KDS alignment in Leicester.

On UK roads there will always be a slight pull to the left due to the road camber and which overtime effects the way the tyres wear.

Have had a Hunter alignment done on mine and am very pleased with the results. As are many others on here. I would be wary of anyone using M settings to align a non M car - different suspension and wheel offset.

I'd suggest having a look in your area to see which centres are accessible and then have a phone around - Hunter just supply the technology, they do not fix the pricing so you will find they vary greatly. The chaps I used were cheap, but very good - once they saw what needed adjusting they pulled up the TIS for the Z4 to see what to do.

i had a hunter alignment (allbeit in Manchester), and it did the trick.
I've read it's the best kit.

Hunter DSP 600 imaging system was the exact kit.

thanks guys. I think I will get the hunter alignment done as the JB one was no good. There is one place in Leicester so will give them a call otherwise its off to Notts.

Did mine that way locally on the Hunter equipment and it was an amazing improvement. They also care abou the correct ballasting before it's done

Im lucky as i have supertracker next door to me almost. And they make and repair the alignment equipment the garages use, so all up to date and very good!
