Aircon Min/Max Temps etc..

I'm close to buying a G29 M40i 2021 or 2022 model & simply wondered if someone can tell me the exact min & max temperatures the aircon goes to in celcius (I'm in the UK if that makes any difference)

Also, as standard, how many external cameras does the car have & can you manually view all of them at will or only when parking/reversing etc..?

Is Google Maps a standard app & do you have to purchase some sort of simcard for the data that it will need?

Finally, is it advisable to get the car ceramically coated to keep it looking it's best without the hassle of polishing?
I've had "Supaguard" on my E89 Z4 for many, many years & it's brilliant...the car never looks dirty even when it is!

Thanks in advance. :)

I can answer some of these.

If you connect your phone and say Hey Google the maps appears (you can scroll through the various options to get there but it's long winded). I use Google Maps everywhere but you need to keep your phone plugged in as on a 150 mile journey it will flatten your phone battery if you use spotify at the same time like I do.

I have a Portimao Blue and had it ceramic coated (independent) at new and it cleans up wonderfully and has no stone chips. I still find that I need to polish it to make it gleam but them my cars stands outside all year.

The cameras for reversing can be viewed. The other cameras are sensors and give warnings but not pictorial ones.

Don't know the max and min for aircon but interested to know why you would need to know.

Look on the displays. Probably 17c min and 30c max (or around those). It is a very strange question, though.

I want to know as some aircons don't go below 18 degrees C & I'm hoping/expecting this car to go to at least 16 degrees C.
I haven't got the car yet, hence my question & I get hot easily, so need the aircon to get as cold as possible!

My aircon is controlled by a button in the central console. In winter on a sunny day it brings it down to around 4-5 degrees on a sunny day  But then I rarely have the top up.

The thing on the dash will take it down to 16 in the summer BTW.

So there isn't a native Google Maps app that connects via a simcard to get it's needed data?
I've been reading about "Connected BMW" & this seems to need data.
Pretend I haven't got a smartphone for this question.

To confirm, there is only ONE actual camera anywhere on the car? On my friend's 340i there are 3 cameras that can be viewed.

One reversing camera and two forward cameras that pick up things like speed limit changes for the HUD (if you have the option).

I think you can upload a Google Map to My BMW but then it won't be live which is the real advantage of using Google Maps. You just need any modern day Android phone and away you go.

Indeed only one camera fitted for reversing and then front and back sensors giving a 360 positional map. For navigation, you can use BMW map which comes as standard and if you buy the connected drive service this can be updated. You can use google, Waze or Maps in the centre display, but only BMW maps or Maps can be viewed in the cockpit display (with arrows in the HUD if you have it). All phone interface is via Wifi with Bluetooth as a back up, gone are the days when you could access apps via a cable.

That said, I have an apple phone, with Android you might get Google maps in the cockpit display when connected by Android Auto :idunno:

If you don't have a smartphone then it's just BMW navigation, I don't believe you can actually download Google maps from the BMW app screen

Temperature controls from 16 degrees Celsius (low) to 28 degrees Celsius (high) in 0.5 increments.

The reverse camera is not standard (even on the M40) so will you will need a car specced with parking assistant or the technology pack which includes it (along with the HUD and Harman/ Kardon audio), so worth seeking out.

Thanks TTZ4...that was the exact info I was looking for.

Another thought...is the wireless charging of the very slow variety (I have a Samsung Galaxy S24) or is it faster than the very basic?

Seems to charge my apple phone fine but there are other posts on here where people have had issues with slow charging and phones getting very hot. I am sure you are aware but again wireless charging is an optional extra (also included in the technology pack).

The in-car nav is excellent and has the best integration (including with the head-up display), it just doesn't have camera alerts but I have Waze running for that. You buy it as an annual subscription in the Connected pack. That pack also has things like the the in-car Spotify app. The pack includes the necessary data for the pack systems via the Deutsche Telecom built-in sim card.

Also note there is also a USB-A and USB-C port available for cable charging.

Physically where is the USB-C port as I've only ever seen a USB-A port near the wireless charging pad in front of the gearstick.

In the arm-rest by the cup holders. It's a charging only port, unlike the USB-A port.
