Airbag light on - Have you been affected? (UK)

Just a follow up to my previous, the air bag light was sorted no problem but I now have a passenger seat belt warning light on with seat unoccupied. Ended up making a dummy seat clip for when I'm on my own, was either that or always have the seat let clip in place. Can't be a**ed to take it in again.

During the test drive in the 3.0 auto I'm buying the airbag light came on. I'd been playing with the passenger seat adjustment quite a bit in the showroom beforehand, and the dealer thought it was because of that.

He's putting a years MOT on it so it would have needed to get fixed for that. Anyway, he's assured me that if it continues to be a problem after I've bought the car he'll look at it again

My airbag light came on couple weeks ago. Today local dealer checked fault codes (under voltage, suprice, suprice) and reset light. Drove back home and got back in, light was back on :headbang:
My dealer told me that there might be a problem with CAN bus. They recommended me to go to BMW and update all control system units ?! Has anyone heard that before?

Easiest way to fix this? I'm planning to sell my Z after this problem is sorted.

Cheers from Finland!

Check this link out to help diagnose fault

The link is in what looks like Russian. Do we have this in English?

MIne came on a couple of weeks ago after I'd been moving the seats around to vac out the car. One trip to my indy and £20 lighter, the light has gone out and (so far) stayed out. The fault was flagging up as the passenger occupancy mat, so perhaps I have a slightly dodgy connection under the seat somewhere - time will tell....

I have just done this on my 3.0si with m sport seats. Its not as easy as described. The correct emulator is £31 and you need to cut the grey cable under the seat and attach it to the emulator as their is no connection. The seat belt bypass is also different it says cut the wires and attach the resistor but this causea the airbag light to come on. So i left the wires connected and attached the resistor to it aswell. This has cured it. If you want a more detailed explanation and a link to the emulator give me a pm

Airbag light on after removing/replacing seats can't reset it
All was perfect before removing seats

How have you tried to reset it, normally you need INPA or DIS software to clear code

Hi, my Z4 is the 2004 model, and has the airbag light problem.
It has not as of yet been resolved, took the car to a garage and they cannot solve this issue on their diagnostic machine.

Do you know what may have caused the light, normally you will need BMW DIS software or INPA to clear the light unless there's a problem. Both will tell you what the problem is.

I've taken it to a garage and they connected it to their computer, they could not pick up a fault or clear the light..
So unsure whether this is the cars fault of the computers software not doing its job properly?

Perhaps I should try taking it to a few more garages?
