Air Vents and the F word

That is just boring ... I want to hear the next 12 episodes of this vent removal progress :D

I sold the Z and replaced it with a Trabant! I reckon my vents have been glued in by previous owner. All that happens when clip fully depressed, is the facia of the vent appears to want to snap off and come away from the main body.

I will persevere, but work interrupts the saga.

Had the roof down today for a bit of a run from Chelmsford to Walthamstow. Glorious sunshine and took country route rather than A12 etc. Easy to forget how nice some Essex lanes are to drive.

How disappointing. After a hard day at work, I sat down for the next episode of the Petach Chronicles and that is it? :x

I am pulling them down. There is a lip on the metal clip which I place edge of s/driver on, then either push down or lever down as hard as I can 'til top of clip appears. (There's not another 6ft of clip above that is there for gawds sake?) At this point, I try to lever vent out. Vents are closed. The facia just pulls partially away from the main body of the vent, the vent vertical fins go ping, ping, ping and it ends up looking like a manky gob, and I am afraid it will come off with a big snap.

Remember when Basil Fawlty whipped his car with a branch? The neighbours thought I was doing a re-make only with the Hulk as Basil! (Don't make me angry, you won't like me when I am angry)

Wife "want a hand?"
Me "Eff off"
Wife "Cup of tea and a bikkie?"
Me "Eff off"
Wife :You coming to bed? It's 3 in the morning!"
Mw "Eff off"
Wife "Shall I Eff off?
Me "Yeah, and you can Eff off too!"

I am now Hyper-VENT-ilating!

In tomorrows episode,Petach storms Shenfield High Street with a Kalashnikov, firing at random and lobs grenades into the local Tesco Metro.

Get the screwdriver under (over, as you are upside down) that lip so you can actually see the end of the clip rather than the end still being up inside the vents top. As per the photo on the other page where you can see the screwdriver head on top of the clip. If you're trying to pull it out too early you might have pulled the vent over the end of the clip so you'd need to push the whole vent back in and dig the end out.

I only say the above as you are saying about there being a hidden length of clip, which makes it sound like you are keeping the end of the clip in the top of the vent and out of sight rather than pulling the whole thing down and into view? Sorry if you are already doing what I describe above, either your description or my understanding of what you're saying is getting screwed up ;)

I was actually in Brentwood over the weekend with the in-laws, I could have lent you a hand.

As the foam is extremely sticky, you may have to wriggle the vent as well whilst the Cliporis is down and out of the opening. I use 1 hand on the centre of the vent and pull, and use the card on the left hand side of the vent to generate the wriggle mode.

They're dead easy to remove!

String through the airvents to pull on
Two screw drivers on the tabs, this is where you need a third hand. So use your teeth (if you have any :D) pull on the sting while holding the tabs down.
Bingo. Done.

As massively over thinking this as it sounds, I threaded a piece of wire with string around the internals, then (with both clips pushed down with screw drivers, pulled them out.

No damage (to vents, surround, hands, bad language etc!).
