Air con compressor

It looks like my air con compressor might be goosed. I thought it might need a regass, but had that checked and gas is there and holding pressure. The compressor clutch seems to be engaging when a/c is switched on. Is there anything else to look at before trying to swap the compressor?

I can see a selection of compressors for the 2.5 E85 on autodoc, but some are listed as 4 groove, some as 6 groove pulleys. I guess this relates to the belt, so is it a matter of looking at which belt is fitted now and go for the same.

There is a Bosch one for just over £200, guess that would do it, and I guess I need to change the drier too.

How easy is it to change. Looks like it might have to come out from below, yes?

Cheers

Don't know about the physical logistics of changing a comp on one of these, but.......just bear in mind you will need a qualified person to reclaim the refrigerant in the system before undoing anything. It is not only illegal to vent R134a (the stuff in your A/C) to the atmosphere but can be extremely dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

I would highly recommend asking someone who knows what they are doing to change a compressor; it will need new o-rings in the pipe unions and you need to keep air and dust/ dirt out as much as possible. Air contains water; refrigeration systems and water do not make good bedfellows. They like bits of crud even less.
Then you will need to pressure test and evacuate the system, then charge it with the correct amount of R134a. Apart from physically changing a compressor (the easy bit), nothing else can be done at home.
