i didn't want the legal protection and didn't include protected bonus.

I would be a bit wary about not including legal protection - it's primarily in case you're hit by an uninsured driver ( there's a lot of these scrotes about ! ) I paid an extra £25 for this which was annoying but on balance worth the peace of mind.
