Z8Cookie, just saw this. I have an AFe kit. I bought mine from the US, even with the shipping and import taxes it was still a lot cheaper than buying from CA. I may have even bought it through the US through eBay. Can't remember now. But check out the costs, you're probably better off, although it would have been more complicated if there were any problems with the product, with it not being a UK supplier.

If I decided to get this setup would I loose my sound generator? I retrofitted mine as i have a 2.5i.....I was interested in one of these but was on the fence as well so got a K&N a couple years ago...

I think I found my own answer, looks like in the install instructions you just replace the actual stox air box, so YES you retain your sound generator :) Thanks myself

So my shipment is stuck at customs " Payment of charges - Item being held, addressee being notified, July 21, 2011, 8:38 am, GREAT BRITAIN"

How do I speed this up, do they send me a letter with the charges or? And how much are the charges typically?

Duty + VAT

CA said mine is in UK customs on the 11 July. Still waiting :tumbleweed: Will it be the right one this time?

£84 VAT and customs to pay....collecting later today

How easy do you think this will be to fit? would me and a friend be able to fit it in an hour? I'm not very mechanical, but my friend does a lot of work on cars...

How much did that end up in total in £?

Let's see some photos of the job as you do it, then when I finally get mine (next Tuesday!) I can copy you

Picked mine up from Parcelforce Friday, fitted earlier today. I'll work out how much it's cost me soon..

Installation was a breeze, no problems there and it took 2 of us about 30 mins to install with basic equipment.

Noise, is superb. At first, idle is the same and lower revs are the same as normal...but from about 3500rpm, this snarly noise amasses from the front and I can't help but grin. Combined with my eisenmann exhaust popping away, I think I'm finally happy with the noise of the car. It's easy to drive around and not get any unwanted drone as it only kicks in when you put your foot down.

Only had 30 mins to try it, but here is sneak preview.

Little sprint, excuse the quality

Don't give an opinion until I've put up the in car driving video, as it sounds much different to sitting there and revving..

Well I got to work 10 minutes earlier today thanks to the intake (nothing to do with the school holidays or me getting up early as I was excited about driving to work!!!)

This noise is addictive, got a feeling that my fuel consumption is going to take a hit. We were going to have a mini meet down in Oxford which I need to organise, but if anyone is interested in hearing this let me know.

I like :)

Do you have a link to this Work Concepts place in the States? (google drew a blank for me). I've got a Simota carbon intake on order but it's currently back-logged and I'm impatient lol.

Actually, is there an AFE for the 3.0 M54 I wonder...

There is indeed :) Sounds lovely too - well, the one for the 2.5 does. Don't buy if you have a slight "ghost" whistle though, the extra airflow makes it too noticeable - although that would be the same with any induction kit. Nicely made too. And no, the one from my 2.5 won't fit the 3.0, although not sure why - they are on different part numbers.

If you get one, buy from the US direct, works out quite a bit cheaper than through a UK importer, I saved about £50 I think.

Booner, glad you're happy with it, sounds really good... liked mine, apart from the damn whistle :(

Try this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150419496550&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:1123

I dropped them an email and got a very quick reply from the States. Shipped over in a week, collected from Parcelforce due to the customs. I think it cost me £360 delivered (well collected..!) and £85 of taxes.

They do other versions of the aFe for 3.0l I am sure. I don't get any ghost whistle
