Advice on quick/practical car for circa £5k...Car Found!

Ha no worries Rob, but that is like comparing a Phoenix Yellow to Interlagos Blue...! Only kidding :) Glad you like it though. Mazdas seem pretty reliable from the research I've done so that's good.

Inkey I agree, it's a pretty sound investment and a decent car, I think the only slight worry will be the mid-high twenties mpg but then if that was a real issue I would've bought a diesel Mundano. One thing that does upset me a little on the MPS though is the lovely oval 'Audi RS esque' tailpipes, on closer inspection it's just for show as inside are some pea shooters  But that's the only negative I can find, so far.

Glad you're enjoying the 335i, I think that's something I might look at in a few years (touring version) when I'm more settled, if not that engine then a 330i or 330d. Such a good looking car too. At least your 335i gives you some aural pleasure, the MPS won't be a patch on the smooth grunty burbles in the Beemer.

But yes you're right, I haven't really comprehended how much I'm going to miss my ///M  Doesn't seem real at the moment, but realistically I've only got a month or so left with her :( Bugger I feel really sad now!

I have had two Mazda 6 ,we have a 2.0 at present. They are excellent value for money. If they have a weakness it is that they could do with better rust proofing underneath. The model you are buying suffers from rust around the rear wheel arch.
I used to wipe an oily paint brush around the arch once a month to keep the rust at bay.

Good advice. All Mazdas rust very badly around the wheel arches and sills. We've had a couple of MX5s and they've all went in those areas. Woodys looks relatively new though so it should be clean.

Check in with Mr Wilks if you go the 330d route. He has some good experience with getting the most of of the engines, so to speak :D

As for that exhaust issue it sounds as though you need to get yourself a custom SS catback exhaust

Losing the ///M I've equated to losing a loved one. At first it doesn't seem real. Then it does and you find yourself pouring over pictures telling yourself how good she looked and what a prat you've been. My only solace is in telling myself I'll be back on the ///M bus sooner rather than later. Plan is that when the Golf goes pop I'll re-evaluate the family car situation and get another MC.

The Jag XF does that as well!! Why? Either put big tailpipes on it or don't do the equivalent of stuffing socks down your pants!

Welcome in advance to the East Midlands Woody! Whereabouts roughly?

:driving: :driving: for the next month then

Sorry to hear its going but exciting times as well

Definitely Rob, I'm going to enjoy what time I have left :) It might be 2 months but will see how it pans out...Will be going in for a hefty Insp 1 & MOT first week of April then a good detail ready for the new owner though :) I want someone to get the same enjoyment I've had.

Exciting times I suppose yes, I guess I've gotta grow up sometime!

It really is immaculate this MPS, I'm doubtful they'll be any rust (in fact I'm 100% sure!) and once in my possession will be getting cleaned regularly & looked after so no rust!!

Ha, I'm really going to try hard not to mod this MPS, so will probs just live with the funny exhausts :) Famous last words tho! Maybe I might just get rid of the orange side repeaters,

I'll be sure to contact Mr W if I go the 330d route  I'd love to get back into an M at some point in the near future but realistically I'm not rich enough to run one alongside all of life's other priorities! Maybe one day, I'll live in hope. I wish I could keep it but financially it makes sense to put the money into a house right now, damn my sensible mature self!

I will definitely stay on here, if you'll have me :) I will enjoy seeing your Z's and be green with envy but will have my photos to look at and the memories I suppose.

I know, stupid and utterly pointless and a real disappointment!!

It'll be down the road from Mac, probably a village called Belton, near Shepshed, near Loughborough...you know it?
