Im sure theres a lot more to it than looks.mcbutler said:Slotted only fella, any brake expert will tell you that drilled are often inferior to OEM. You can google for advice, loads on youtube etc. Drilled only sell because they are aesthetically pleasing.
Now this really does open up a can of worms Everyone will have a different viewpoint and price can also be an issue. All I can say is what I fitted and which I am more than happy. For the front I went with ceramic made by ATE as they are reported to give of less dust, for me this worked and also provided good braking, for the rear I went for Pagid which work fine. both supplied by euro car parts,as were the discs I also replaced. Don't forget you will need to replace the pad wear sensor's front and rear as they don't like being disturbed and in my experience do not change from old to new. As previously mentioned changing brake hoses from the standard ones to braided stainless steel does improve braking giving a sharper braking effect and more consistent braking ,Markg.uk1 said:Any advice on the best pads to get guys ?
I was just thinking about how they use different style discs for different weathers and where solid discs are used when they need to keep heat in the discs.Gaffa22 said:Bike discs are a bit different, they are not vented, and are made of expensive carbon steel.
For race cars expensive drilled discs do service a purpose, it's actually to let the gas escape.
But cheap drilled discs are a waste of time in my opinion
Bike discs are often two piece as well which adds to the price astronomically.Gaffa22 said:Bike discs are a bit different, they are not vented, and are made of expensive carbon steel.
